The pirate legend curse was only around for season 1 and i wasn't able to unlock it since i wasn't a legend yet, it would be nice if we could buy it from one of the vendors in Athena's Fortune or unlock through commendations!

IIRC, as long as you hit level 100 during Season 1, you will still get the curse retroactively when you hit Pirate Legend.

Aye, that is the case.
Though I think it would be best to turn it into some long-term reward. Would make it something players can go out and achieve as a new goal, will display it in-game as an actual obtainable cosmetic, and can save internal teams the bother of getting them added to the correct players.

If you read @mj4803 post he clearly said that he wasn’t a pirate legend in time to claim the curse. He doesn’t mention if he got to LV 100 but if he did and wasn’t a legend then his renown level is a mute point
As for the pirate legend curse, I believe Rare has stated that it will return but they haven’t decided how it will return. Personally I like it should be something long term like unlocking the pirate legend cannons wheel and capstan.
FYI the cannon require 500 skeleton ships sunk. The wheel I believe is a 1000 nautical miles sailed on an Athena voyage and the capstan is completing 30 Athena Fortune voyages.
Re-read my comment. They don’t mention renown level, true, that’s why I clarified in bold that if they hit level 100 that season, they can get it retroactively if they have since reached Pirate Legend.
This guy never made it to pirate legend. If @mj4803 became a pirate legend BEFORE season 1 ended then he would have the curse. Your post is completely pointless because he made it to level 100 during Season 1 but he didn’t hit Pirate Legend until season 2 or later. If @mj4803 became a pirate legend after he reached level 100 AND was still within season 1 then he needs to raise a support ticket.
The reason for @mj4803 post is because many people including him were not pirate legend at the time season 1 ended and he wants a chance to earn the curse

I’m curious, are you a Pirate Legend now?
From what I gather from Taaaamas' post, it's not an automatic process, you have to request it(?) - which is surprising to even me.

And, yes, I do agree the curse should be brought back in a fitting way for everyone.
I was already a pirate legend so I don’t know if you made pirate legend in season 4 if you would be rewarded the pirate legend curse in season 4 if you reached LV 100 in season 1.
As for earning pirate legend, I know it’s not automatic. You must buy the level 50 title in 3 factions and actually talk to the mysterious stranger to accept the shanty to actually become pirate legend

I'm in the same boat, PL since year one. But, as confirmed by Taaaamas, it is the case. Which makes sense, it would be quite unreasonable to expect new players to reach PL in a season in order to get the rewards they've already reached.

Oh, no, I meant the curse unlock. I know becoming PL is not automatic.
I would have thought the PL season rewards would be added to a player's account automatically when reached and unlocked when they actually hit and unlocked PL status. From the sounds of what Taaaamas says, Rare support have to manually do it? Which is surprisingly archaic, if that's the case.
I have heard the following;
If you hit reknown 100 in Season 1, you basically are queued for the PL reward.
If you later then hit Pirate Legend outside of Season 1, it will give it to you in addition to all other previous PL rewards IF you hit 100 Reknown in those seasons.
In order to actually become PL you must buy the qualifying trading company promotions and then talk to the Mysterious stranger. Upon doing this you get all queued rewards.
That is what I have heard.
