Grief the tall tale.

  • @joel-m-with You giving me ideas, my crew might do that this weekend.

Is always fun to sink griefers.

  • @socom3988 isn't repeated targeting harassment

@deckhands i dont want to give false information but isn't repeated targeting like camping checkpoints to sink the same crew over and over for no reason than to sink them against the rules?

with evidence it can lead to consequences

you're right that was confirmed here by an employee

depends on the evidence and the discretion of the person reviewing it nothing is a guarantee but that's an option for people if that's their thing

I wouldn't be surprised if something like this brought down more heat than usual as it's a less convoluted situation and intent is clear

  • Sink ships? Yeah that's fine..but we can't progress through tall tale 2 in the update because people group up and camp and spawn kill you. Literally can't progress. Save the get gud bullcrap this isn't pvp, this IS pvp abuse. They said the tall tales would be PvE only, and that would be great because of this. If you are THAT bored to go into a quest area and Hank people trying to finish the story then you need a life for real. It isn't fun,and I pvp mainly. But you can't win against 4 double gunners camping you at a checkpoint with an ammo crate beside them.

  • I just recorded getting killed 4 times by 3 players ganking and cussing at me. Am I able to for real take some kind of action? This IS toxic.

  • If you believe a player has been toxic in the game, you can report them to Xbox Live here. You can also submit a support ticket via Rare Player Support.

  • Thank you

  • @joel-m-with

Not sure if A Pirates Life will be a permanent Tall Tale. What happens when Season 3 ends?

No one mentions if the update is time limited, but isn't it implied?

I don't think they would spend a year+ in development for just a few months playing - besides getting all the bugs out may take more time than a season 😉.

When you buy PotC-related things in the Emporium you'll get a warning that you get them until at least June 30, 2031 (and if before that MS & WD terminate it, you will get some replacement). My guess is that the date (and terms) is also for the Tall Tales.

  • If you don't want to do pvp then why are you playing sea of thieves?

@socom3988 Sorry but the developers approve and enforce this behaviour.

I was just trying to do the new tall tales myself, and the Kraken spawned right on top of the checkpoint.

Honestly at that point, we simply scuttled the ship and left the game for the day, is not fun whasoever to play like this.

What does the kraken spawning have to do with encountering other players during tall tales? And why scuttle. You said you were playing alone (“trying to do the new tall tales myself”). The kraken is easy to kill on a sloop. Just kill the thing and get on with it. Takes about a minute to kill.

There's a huge difference between myself and by myself, Kraken is a pure waste of time with no reward whasoever.

Is not the first time we arrive on the server, leave outpost and the Kraken instantly spawns on us, even though we have no loot whasoever and just started.

That is not fun whasoever, simply frustrating, if was a Skeleton Ship and/or Meg, would be an entirely different story (just due to the simply fact they actually provide rewards, something the Kraken doesn't do).

Adding insult to injury, we didn't even care about world events at the time, just wanted to do the Tall Tale, something not even the developers let us with their Kraken nonsense.

Plus I'm the last person who you want to educate on how to take down the Kraken, https://i.postimg.cc/bvhcJKpR/Untitled.jpg

So it's frustrating to shoot 6 cannonballs? You read right...6 (!) cannonballs are needed, to kill the kraken when spawned on a sloop...2 tentacles, each 3 cannonballs, done...even if you get chased, you can kill it so fast, it doesn't matter

There are XBox achievements for this...if there are achievements for something, no matter what game, it's here to stay

Wow. That is some weak sauce.

The fact that you want to pvp isn't the problem.  It's that you want to ruin people's fun, then pass it off that YOU didn't personally get something fun out of the update so you need to ruin it for everyone else?

    So cool...

We enjoy PvP as much as you enjoy your Tall Tales, you're ruining our fun by saying we shouldn't sink you.

Yet we still will. Enjoy your Tall Tales.

If they keep bringing more planks and cannonball to steal it's okay

Cussing is punishable yes, killing no.

  • I do not understand why someone would spawn camp some defensless player ( it become obvious the person is defensless after a certain number of kills) at a tall tale check point becuase they like PvP. I say that as a PvP'er by the way. I mean when I seek out PvP I seek out a challange. The worse PvP match ups for me is against someone who can not fight. So people who claim they enjoy PvP and defend this is it really because you like PvP or is it because you just get off on slaughtering someone much weaker than you over and over again? I ask this as a honest question because how is that type of PvP interesting?

When I play games with PvP that actually appeals to me if I see a a higher level killing a newbie or just a weaker target in general over and over I will actually stop what I am doing and go kill the higher player. I notice with these types they are not even good at PvP, actually they suck. They usually run away when I come over or they rage quit and send me a hate message after I kill them over and over again.

Anyways as far as TT just make it its own instance. Anyone who knows me here knows I do support PvP and I do not support PvE servers but honestly I could careless about TT's being their own thing.

  • @combatxkitty

It's sociopathic behaviour that is somehow considered okay by a large portion of the community because it's a "game". Apparently, you should enjoy letting someone sit there and punch you in the face repeatedly during your leisure time because they enjoy it despite how much you don't enjoy it. And if you don't let them do it they will leave the game and the game will die, but if you don't like it you should leave the game. its really messed up.

  • It is sad that the " I PVP" Sweat lords gotta sink empty ships at c19.
Must need to boost those ships sunk numbers if you are gonna go after empty ships?

Its nice we can respawn in the tall tale but bringing the chest back is almost impossible.

I stole a ship to turn in the chest of never ending sorrows and still didnt get a acheivment for finding it. I still love the update and dont mind people playing how they want to play but sinking empty ships is nothing to flex about.

  • @seamonsterttv do remember to be respectful to all. Whether you agree with them or not. They’ve haven’t been disrespectful, so I think we can all just agree to disagree.

  • This will be a controversial take but I believe that Rare needs to take a hard stance and enforcement on griefing.

Griefing has no place in online games.

  • @capt-soul-beard There's a difference between PvP and griefing. If you're stopping people from accessing content just to stop them you're griefing it doesn't matter how you dress it up it's a childish move and not PvP. Like dude mentioning them camping check points and cussing him out that's just plain griefing that isn't PvP. I mean if someone's so small of a person they need to ruin someone else's time by griefing them it's time they take a vacation from the game. Most games give a warning first time then a couple weeks ban the next then usually they are done for good if they keep it up. I imagine people are going to get a pretty stiff boot since Disney let Rare play with their IP and they are trying to impress them. I suspect quite a few changes enforcement wise probably soon.

  • @treefittymonsta you are hunting folks who are focused on doing the TT not on PVP. SO you are mugging them not hunting them. Sad man.

  • @combatxkitty they get off on it. bullying etc probably dont have much influence IRL

Griefing in general is too convoluted in a game like this to crack down on it.

There aren't any resources to get involved in everyone's beefs with each other to determine who did what for how long and what reason.

Since there are no shortages of people that consider whatever they want to consider griefing and people that love to start stuff or play into stuff then play the victim when they get a taste of their own medicine there aren't many clear lines in the world of griefing in a game like this

Hard stances on clear instances of serious personal attacks with evidence can work but when it comes to gameplay hard stances only lead to the environment being made less enjoyable through interference.

That's why the ability to server hop without penalty is so important as it allows people to solve their issues on that server with specific people instantly.

Would you say the same about sinking people doing Order of Souls voyages, or working through Gold Hoarder riddles? Is it okay to attack people just looking for Glitterbeard books? They are not working on PvP at that moment either. Where do you draw the line and why?

Be careful about assuming much about someone’s psychological makeup based on so little data. You are making what’s known as the fundamental attribution error here.

  • @wolfmanbush
All it takes is a video. And clear guide lines. As far as the tall tale goes its the pirate code to respect new sailors voyages, these instances are nothing close to respect. The griefers are why this game has gone down hill. The people who have their backs are just showing Rare they dont need to take a stance.

  • @ghostpaw
Your whole comment is a load of b s. Not even worth my time. People agreeing with you are also very confused. Your psych 101 course isn’t needed here.
