An idea i just came up with.
We had a taste leaving the shroud and perhaps its time for another adventure beyond.
Beyond the sea of thieves lies an outpost on the fringes of society. A fishing town with a few houses, npcs and a very lavish governor's mansion. The governor of course is the reason we go here.
Do voyages to make a ramshackle version of a workable shroudbreaker (Think of them like a gta 5 freeroam setup mission where you gather stuff you need in the main freeroam session at the risk of having it stolen).
Voyages will eventually reward parts of this item you need and once its completed, assemble it and begin your heist on the island beyond... Or steal the artifact from another crew and travel there yourself.
Once you have the artifact set sail to the blank area of the map south west.
The island has patrolling npc Grand Maritime Union ships and npc Grand Maritime soldiers and inside the mansion, lots and lots of loot.
You can approach the situation in 2 ways, stealthily or aggressively.
The aggressive way is simply roll up to the island, take out the island defences and storm the mansion killing the soldiers and sinking the ships.
The stealth approach is much better and has more to it.
To stealth you must sail over with a rowboat and keep out of sight of the patrolling soldiers.
The npcs have a pre planned route and field of vision which is a lot lower at night.
There is a pirate legend representative living in the town which will give you a soldier uniform if you can make it to his house undetected, which would enable you to blend in. Keep away from their supervisors tho as they will detect you.
If detected the soldiers will be alerted. The ships will aggro your ship and soldiers will persue your crew. You can fight your way into the mansion.
The doors are barred if detected so you will need a keg to blow it open.
The governor will be sat in his living quarters cowering and will have some interesting dialogue on how we will be hanged someday. If however you make it into the mansion without alerting the guards, interact with him and you tie up the governor and gag him so he cant call for help. You can then proceed to rob all his riches. If you leave the house with the governor alerted he will call for help and the island will be alerted so you must stop him.
Loot up and escape with the loot. In the rare occasion 2 crews turn up at the same time with different artifacts, they can interrupt and steal from one another, the island will already be alerted if somebody has been detected however.
Aside from the heist itself there ulis a tavern on the island full of npc pirates and aristocrats that have unique voyages and business to conduct within the sea of thieves. As sneaking to this tavern is a must, you could simply go here to get better voyages instead if robbing the governor every time too. They could also add other stuff to this unique location such as having valuable ships with loot within their waters be the target aswell from time to time etc.
Its a very rough idea but it has potential i think.
Thoughts?
