Real Life vs. Twitch Drops

  • TBH it is sometimes really hard that we only have 24 hours to get those Twitch drops, especially if life thwarts your plans...

I really wanted to collect those "Gilded Phoenix Gloves" from yesterday. But unfortunately, I had an emergency and needed to bring my dog to a doctor. (of course I did not think of the Twitch drops afterwards...) Is there any way to get those gloves in the future at least?

Just an idea for the next update: How about selling Twitch drop items afterwards in the Pirate Emporium for everybody who missed it.

  • @mo-mcdamage I agree something should be changed about this, however unfortunately I think they won't do anything about it. Game companies rely far to much on FOMO now to keep hype up for events and to keep things promoted. If everyone could just have it whenever they wouldn't be laying attention to the game at the specific times rhe game devs want people to, they would just go in game and buy it and then no one is missing out and the streamers potentially get less viewership etc

  • They should just make these twitch drop sets available with ancient coins, maybe 3 months after. 300 ancient coins for a full set of 5 pieces from one drop let's say. 75 for each individually purchasd if you just missed one or two days. That seems fair. I don't think anyone would feel like their cosmetics earned by watching a streamer for twenty minutes would be commoditized if they were available for money. They'd honestly feel relieved to be so on top of their drops... just makes business sense. I'd readily pay up a couple hundred ancient coins right now for a few pieces I've missed.

Unfortunately, its probably something to do with how Rare sets up agreements with twitch. Drops might be exclusive to their platform and a perk Rare pays for for their game. Twitch gains revenue and forces people to have an account & login. Rare gains interest in their game (debateable) and "limited time content" for their audience. Who owns the rights to the skin afterward is anyone's guess. I think Rare would have done something about this if they could, but maybe they cant...

    They tend to do that.

Fun trick. Start up the twitch stream on pc and....walk away.

  • @mo-mcdamage While they haven't repeated drops in awhile, there is a chance they come back. Maybe in a year or two.

Otherwise if RL gets in the way, it sucks, but atleast it was just a pair of digital gloves.

  • Thx for your comments. :)

You all got some very good points. I am really glad to hear more insides and understand the strategies behind the Twitch Drop idea. Maybe they are going to offer the set again and find a better solution instead of the time-based rewards.

@Captain-Coel Sure, it's just a game in the end. At least my dog is fine :)
