I believe that 120 FOV should be implemented into the game instead of having to change the files, personally I do not use it even though I am on PC, but a lot of people do have been using the method to get 120 FOV, I believe that it would be very nice if they implemented it to go from 90 to 120 FOV at max just so that people are not given an advantage because 120 FOV is quite a difference and not accessible to all players. of course this may not be needed immedietly and will probably never be added but what are the thoughts on it? is anyone against it? Is it that much of an advantage? I say yes it is an advantage depending on the person but it also has its setbacks, I haven't heard anyone say it is game breaking as long as it is accessible to all players.

120° FoV is unacceptable by Rare's standards. They have already gone on record saying that anyone who has it is violating terms and will likely be banned due to how unfair it is. Letting everyone in on a cheat is not how you fix an issue like this.
P.S. - This is the sole reason why I currently spend most of my time sailing on Xbox-only servers.
@galactic-geek I think his concern is that people who have game on Steam are having advantage vs people who purchased from Microsoft store, or playing on console. Seems like Its valid concern.

I know, and it's a valid concern for me as well, hence my last post. 😉
@galactic-geek I think that Rare isn't on top of their bans, the only real way to get banned is to say something offensive. There is almost no way to tell if someone is on 120 FoV. I doubt they would change it so that people cant get 120 FoV and i wouldnt see it as an issue if everyone had it. of course i like 90 FoV but just find it a bit unfair that it is put behind Steam PC players that can only use it, is it cheating. Yes, but will they actually ban anyone. probably not unless they are broadcasting it which is almost no one. This is why they should add 120 FoV for everyone.

In some games there are ways to check certain aspects of a player's game files. I don't know if Rare does this with SoT, but if not, then they probably should. It'd be as simple as a check the moment the player logs online.
