Capture and defend skeleton fort against skellies. (Reverse Role Skelly Fort)

  • A reverse take on skeleton fort events that is triggered by players similar to that of FOTD.

There is a new loot item you can find that works the same way as a ritual skull. It is a crown.

You can sell the crown to gold hoarders or you could use the crown to get more loot!

If you choose to do this, sail to the nearest unoccupied skeleton fort and place it on a throne that will be in the main chamber.

Emote sit on the throne with the crown nearby and it will be equipped on your head and the event will start.

Shortly afterwards skeleton galleons will spawn and circle the fort firing. Use the fort cannons or towers to fight back. There is unlimited ammo whilst the event is active.

The aim of the event is to clear the waves of incoming hostiles whilst protecting whoever is wearing the crown.

If the crown bearer dies. You only have a short window to pick the crown up causing that pirate to be crowned. If no pirate grabs the crown within the 15 - 30 second or so despawn timer the event will fail and the crown will disappear along with the invading skellies and any hopes of a reward. Your crew are free to use their ship in defense of the fort but the crown bearer must remain on the island otherwise the event will fail also. So having a crew helps but you could realistically do this solo too (So long as you dont die). Reason i want the crown bearer to remain on the fort i'll explain below.

Waves begin with circling galleons but eventually skeleton rowboats with 6 skellies or so will spawn and row to the shores. If they successfully come into contact with the fort's beach they will disembark and run straight for the pirate wearing the crown. As soon as skeletons disembark their rowboats instantly despawn making room for other skeleton rowboats. You may find several rowboats charging to the island at once. Eitherway, these skellies will be after the crown bearer. Fight them off, or prevent them landing at all with well placed shots. The key to success however is to sink the circling skeleton galleon ships as this advances the waves and brings you closer to its end. Until these galleons are sunk. Rowboat raiding parties will continue to come.

If you successfully sink all the waves of ships that will emerge circling the island, whilst protecting the crown bearer from the skeletons who get on land via rowboat, you will hear that famous victory tune and a ray of light will appear on the throne with a skeleton key.

Open the vault and take your loot to the nearest outpost!

As for pvp. The crown can be stolen by killing the bearer. So if you were a crew with ambitions to steal the loot from a crew doing the event, simply take out the crew, grab the crown, deal with the skelly ships, or deal with skellies first and kill the players. Eitherway, you can do this like a regular fort.

    ((For Solo Players))
Understandably your ship will be wrecked left by the fort if you are the only crew member. So if you plan to do this solo, park your ship a short distance away from the fort and use your own rowboat to get to the fort. Activate the event, dont die, then open the vault and return to your ship. You could realistically fire a few shots from fort cannons to damage the ships inbetween fighting skelly squadrons that disembark and raid. But this would definitely be easier and somewhat more fun as part of a crew as your ship can get involved too!

  • capture and defend skeleton fort against incoming waves of skeletons in some shape or form is a fun concept to explore.

I would even be happy to see this as an isolated event in a tall tale and then expand on it. the trickster nearly does this but it spawns the skeletons right on top of you in a trap-filled arena having a long strip of beach to shoot cannons and take on an incoming skeleton invasion before they knock down a fort door or something would be an entertaining event

  • Love the idea, love the concept, but it would be pretty boring for the person with the crown.

  • @shadow20642

I had an idea for a similar concept, except it would be a new PvP mode in Arena. Rare aren't focusing on Arena anymore, so your idea has a better chance of being implemented.

Feel free to steal any ideas from my post and implement them into your own proposal.

    I wouldnt think so.
    They would be pretty busy.
They could use the fort cannons to shoot the galleons whilst fighting the skellies that row to shore.

It would probably be more efficient to fight from the fort than from your ship so a crew likely would remain at the fort with the person wearing thr crown.

  • Love the idea.

I hope they add more king of the Hill/Horde modes like this!

I dig that it’s PVE with obvious potential for PVP too.

If they want to integrate a story reason for doing this kind of thing, I could imagine it being the Grand Maritime Union, charging you with taking FORTS on their behalf. Raising the GMU flag above each Fort on the server. Securing it for them.
The reward you get is back at whatever their outpost/base location is - hopefully a big brick and mortar fort of their own!

(And imagine if there’s a skelly faction eventually too... the battle for server control)

  • @matmoesa very keen for this sort of idea. Imagine an island fort with more of an inlet. Where a good team could truly put up a decent fight protecting their boat using cannons.
Horde/King of the hill modes please!!!

  • @shadow20642 Sorry mate, was under the impression they just sat on the throne.. I think this would be good, but there would need to me a cloud up, even though this is a pae event like FoTD.

    Of course!
I imagine a crown shaped cloud or something like that.

Even though its a pve type event, having pirate crews being made aware and coming in adds to the suspense and tension! I love it.
