Ships, Swords and Styles

  • Hello! I have a few cosmetic suggestions to share that have been on my mind for a while.

To start a few different ship skins

    For example:
    Caravel : 2 players
    Carrack: 3 Players
    Man O'War: 4 players

An Asian set could also be added as a different cosmetic option, just to diversify the ships we encounter in our adventures.

    On to swords!
Rapiers would be an awesome skin addition aswell and give a different style to fancier pirates.

And last but not least I would personally love to see a long jacket over a chest plate.

Thanks for taking the time to read it ;)

  • I'm definitely in support of seeing multiple ships for the same crew sizes.

  • And people say others don't post awesome ideas on these forums...

  • I do like the idea of different ships for the same size crew; I wonder having 3 of each should be more or less doable. They don't even have to be mechanically that different. Would enjoy the option of just selecting that I want a 1-2 person ship, and seeing which one I get given :)

  • @TalVheet Ship cosmetics already give you a dizzying amount of options in terms of appearance - just look at the newly released LunarNew Year set! 😍

As for armor, a lot of the Sovereign clothing cosmetics come pretty close to what you're looking for. 😉

@TheSevenTeas It would be less doable, because the developers at Rare would have to redesign a lot of the ship cosmetics we already have, in addition to adding even more to their future workloads.

  • @galactic-geek

Oh I have no complains about ship costumization, in fact I'm collecting Sea Dog, Sovereign and Admiral sets, but like I said I would love to encounter a caravel, or a chinese junk, just really to diversify the atmosphere, and increase roleplay possibilities.

I already own my favourite set, stonewall sovereign, but I must insist on the rapier skins.
I feel that of all sugestions it's the easiest one to implement.

Yeah fair point. Still, might be a fun thing one day :)

I'm not against new ship variants either provided it remains balanced, but that's kind of the crux - balancing it would be incredibly hard to do, and that's on top of the additional dev work required.

As for rapiers, there's enough variety in sword-styles, that you essentially already have it. There's a reason most pirates refer to it as a sword, and no longer a cutlass. 😉

  • @galactic-geek Oh my ship sugestion is just a cosmetic change really, same mechanics.

On the swords while we do have plenty of variety on Cutlass ( and an odd blue Rapier looking sword) we are missing the simple classic look with a straight blade

Same mechanics? Not possible, depending on the cosmetic aspects. Take for example, the caravel you mentioned earlier. Even with all of the same speed, handling, and turning characteristics, it will still have an advantage with its triangular sails, giving it more visible sight lines.

As for the sword pictured, good substitutes include Sir Arthur Pendragon's sword, or any of the Sovereign swords, as well as the Black Dog, Mercenary, Insider, and Aristocrat swords...

  • @galactic-geek Any ship is easy enough to spot, a different silhouette is not game breaking in my opinion.

On the swords, Pendragon Sword is a great example on how Rapiers can be easily added, and while the sovereign cutlass is indeed cool (its the one I use) Its still a curved blade and not a rapier, thus it's not an acceptable substitute for me. :)

It's not the silhouette that I was referring to. It's an advantage for its own crew because they would have more visibility in front of, and around, them.

As for the sword, I think Pendragon's sword is more of a Chinese sword, if anything. You really should broaden your horizons (or cut your losses). 😅

  • @galactic-geek whatever style it is, it's a straight blade, like a rapier.

About the ships, it's just more variety and strategy.
