Losing items on disconnect.

  • I've had plenty if times I'm playing the game right and something happens to where I disconnect from the game. Now I'm happy I can rejoin real easy and not have to worry about that. What I find very unfortunate though is that I usually carry the good cannonballs on me in case of pvp or getting borded. However when I disconnect carrying those things and I rejoin, my inventory is reset. So those cannonballs of the damned, gone, the firebombs, cursed balls, blastballs, cooked food. Gone. I think it would be great if that didn't happen when I played. Thank you, and enjoy your day.

  • i never keep stuff on me because of that

get a storage crate for the good stuff and hide it and use a decoy storage crate out in the open

if they are on a short time they are going to check the obvious if they are on a long time it probably doesn't matter because you're in trouble and probably gonna sink anyway

  • I can't agree more.

  • This probably isnt going to happen because that would mean saving player inventories to the character on the main servers almost continuously during connection to the game server (your inventory changes alot during the game session). It works for cosmetics because (I'm assuming and this is way oversimplified) it basically takes a snapshot when you exit the various chests and the difference between losing connection and disconnecting on purpose doesn't matter. It might not be possible to include inventory snapshots being loaded in only on connection loss without rebuilding alot of foundational systems, unlike cosmetics not all storage is tied to your ship or at an outpost (and its adding alot of extra server traffic for data that will not be used most of the time).

The usage of storage is a great way to get around this problem be it crates or barrels (I mostly sloop duo so the barrels are close enough and I dont want to resupply the enemy if they manage to sink us)

We just tend to not keep much of anything on us unless battle is imminent. Then we rig for battle and get filled up with everything. It frees you up to fish for the good heals and take less trips from the barrels you harpoon during the cruise to your next destination or target.

Is there a chance someone could yoink your fancy stuff, yes. Remain vigilant on watch and that shouldn't happen.
