90 FOV in Sea of Thieves is NOT actually 90 (It's much lower)

  • I was starting up Sea of Thieves for the first time and I immediately noticed that the FOV in this game is weird. Very weird.

The FOV slider exists, yes, however the 90 FOV maximum is not actually a true 90 FOV. It's most likely calculated horizontally, when instead nearly all other PC games calculate it vertically. This means that the maximum FOV in this game is actually closer to 60-70 FOV in real terms. This means the game is unplayable for me and many others, due to motion sickness and eye strain.

I'm assuming this hasn't been addressed because Rare hasn't made a PC game before this one, but it really is a quick fix for the huge amounts of people who literally cannot play this game because of this very simple problem.

I don't know if this will ever be fixed, but I really hope it is soon. I wanted to check out this game, but I literally cannot play it.

  • wow I'm glad that I'm not the only one experiencing this! I honestly feel like I'm making a decision of getting on based on if I think I can deal with feeling nauseous if I play.

  • @flebsy As there is already a topic on the subject (that you have contributed to too), please continue to add you input there to avoid multiple topics on the same subject.
