Make Sloops fast again

@nabberwar hey being stubborn isn't a bad thing, but I am not advocating to buff the sloop speed for the purpose of "helping noobs", nor am I disparaging any of your ideas for Rare to invest in tools to teach noobs. I'm not really in favor of buffing sloops for the purpose of helping noobs, but it's a natural side effect if noobs are for whatever reason gravitating toward slooping, which is true in my experience due to the convenience of queuing in it offers.

I too would be in favor of nerfing brig speed given no other alternative, but since gallies and brigs are closer in speed in headwind / crosswind, it would be more prudent to bring sloop speed to a more equal level, assuming their turn radius is not broken at these high speeds.

If not for helping sloops avoid combat, sloops should be buffed to allow them to catch up to larger ships so they can engage in combat.

Are you sure about that?

I think a faster sloop would vastly help the game by both helping new players avoid confrontations with larger crews and encouraging sloops to be the de-facto pvp ship.

Putting that aside, I think it makes more sense to wrangle in the ship that is more broken then trying to raise another up. Brigantine has the fastest top speed as well. The ship in general is rather mobile when compared to the other ships.

@nabberwar Yah I thought you might try to call out hypocrisy in my argument, despite you strawmanning my initial position and making it more about helping noobs than about the other things I stated was wrong with the current balance. I will admit, I set myself up for that, but since when do all noobs and exclusively noobs use the sloop? It's nonsensical to tie the two together, and it's pretty clear you are just looking for ways to discredit me than to present actual arguments. I do like your analysis on ship speed though, which I believe has led you to a similar conclusion as me.

Buffing sloop speed / nerfing brig does the same thing for the most part so I don't really see much point in debating further. Just wanted to let OP know in my initial response he isn't alone in thinking the sloop is slow, but his frustration isn't completely warranted since it is a PVP game and he should know what he's getting into.
