A reaper reward for sinking non-emissary ships?

  • @bugaboo-bill killing an emissary does give reaper emissary grade, but there are diminishing returns for killing the same player (1 increase per 5 minutes or so per enemy)

  • @bugaboo-bill I mean in the same way as you fight emissarys...there spawnkilling gets you nothing as soon as you killed the same person 3 times, as far as I know what @Captain-Fob4141 said

Yeah, it would be a bit of a downside that you aren't safe anymore from reapers when doing non-emissary stuff, but it's also not good to get attacked from non emissarys as a reaper all the time...wasting supplies and gaining nothing for it

  • @schwammlgott Ahhh i see where you are coming from.
I'm guilty, i like to hunt Reapers without any emissary flag hoisted.
Well i see this as the risk a Reaper has.
I doubt Rare will change a lot.
I only have Reaper to level, when solo i never use a Reaper emissary flag, but all my loot goes to RH.
As a crew we mostly hoist Reaper go for the events and every ship regardless of emissary or not.
We need their loot and if they have their flag.

  • @bugaboo-bill beeing reaper is a risk, yeah, I'm fine with it, but getting nothing at all from fighting non-emissarys has nothing to do with risk, it's just annoying

  • @schwammlgott risk reward.
I mean same problem other emissary have or any ship that get attacked by a pure PvP vessel with no loot.

Edit: I see, that you are revealed on the Map is extra risky.
Well beeing a Reaper is a thuggs life i guess 😂

  • @bugaboo-bill Yeah turning in stolen loot does give you a slight increase in rep... but not a whole lot, i think it is comprable to the gold increase that the stolen loot has.

What I am recommending, is turning in stolen loot to reapers gives a set amount of rep... so similar to Cargo Runs, if you turn in 30+ pieces of stolen loot at Emissary Grade 5, you will go up in level.

  • @reverend-toast

Another idea, but a bit late, no rep from non stolen loot at all ;-)

I dont like the emissary system that much, in some month barely anyone will use it, believe me.
The risk is too high and the best are already done, need no emissary flag.
It will just open the field for veterans jumping on new players that need to level.
I'm casual and i'm not that far from being maxed out in all factions, and i didnt play in july at all. So
Rare will learn that lesson that it can only add to the game for a short time.
Except they improve it with rewards what i think is unlikely because many already complain about timed exclusives and although i have it all, im happy we dont have it anymore.

  • @avecrux all the factions gain rep from sinking reapers tho

  • Eh, I disagree.

The emissary system as it is now accomplishes a couple of things.

    1. Players used to complain that there was no incentive for stacking loot. The emissary system does incentivize such play, giving emissaries stacking rewards for doing so, and reapers (or other players) the potential of more to look forward to if they sink the emissary.

    2. It flags a crew, notionally, for PvP. Giving folks who don't take the emissary flag a bit of a breather.

I don't think that needs to change. Reapers and Emissaries are meant to go together.

  • @reverend-toast true you don’t have to put the reaper emissary flag up...however if you don’t put the emissary up you do not get credit for the level 5 emissary flag your turning in for reapers. You get exp sure but no achievement for your 5 level 5 to turn in.

  • @johnhp1 What I am talking about is, as a Reapers Emissary, turning in PVE loot is the same as it is now... where you get a very little bit of reputation, but it will still go up.

Turning in Emissary Flags and Reaper’s Chests/Bounties will also be the same, give you a nice sizable chunk of rep.

Currently, when you turn in chests that are flagged as “stolen” (Where another crew picked it up first) It will give you a very slight increase in gold and in turn rep for turning it in... What I am recommending, is for stolen loot, the gold value is the same, BUT it will give you a much more sizable rep increase. So as a Level 5 Reaper, turning in 30ish stolen chests will give you a level. (I believe it is around 30 Devils Roar cargo crates to get you from 74-75 as a Grade 5 Merchant Emissary).

This will make reapers stealing more appealing, but it will also give incentive for the reapers to not sink every fresh spawn.
