Increase Crew Size + The Dreadnought

  • I’ve seen people suggest bigger ships for crews of 6-8 people, but in my opinion, the ship would probably be pretty much inoperable for a 5 man crew with no other ship option.

How about just increasing the crew limit for the existing ships, and have overlap for the minimum operable size? Hear me out:

    • 3 players max for sloops
    • 4 players max for brigs
    • 6 players max for galleons
    • 8 players max for dreadnoughts?
(More on dreadnoughts at the bottom)

I always felt like 4 people for the galleon felt too empty. And even though it may shake the balance of the game, it should be terrifying to go against a galleon. Right now, I’d rather be a duo sloop over a 4 man galleon in battle anytime.

The brig is fast, but pretty much useless in battle unless the crew is experienced. Just one more man would make a world of difference.

The sloop is still good at just two people, but like I said, the brig is death for a lower-than-average three man crew, so having the option to have three people on a sloop would be very much preferable. It would also help keep the balance with the other ships bigger crew sizes

    And finally: The Dreadnought
Crew size: operable by 6, max 8
    Sails: 4
    Hull levels: same as galleon
(the middle deck can possibly take lower- and upper damage for balance)
Cannons: 10, four on each side and two facing FORWARD
    Rowboat capacity: 2

Description: The Dreadnought may be as slow as a sloop and as hard to maneuver as galleon. But what it lacks in speed and maneuverability, it makes up for in sheer firepower. This is a ship intended for those who’s goal is only to hunt down unsuspecting crews and steal their hard earned treasure.. or those who find their strength in numbers.
