Self Sabotage

  • Hey guys, I’ve been playing the game for a few months. I’m far from great at the game but find it enjoyable and challenging. I prefer to play with a crew/team as I find this makes the game more fun & tend to go for 3-4person crews as this tends to make missions more challenging.
I’ve noticed a lot lately though when playing with an open crew that people seem to join your crew just to sink our own crew ship and then leave???
Has anyone else experienced this and can anyone explain the benefits other than they’re bored?

Unfortunately, this is the way of the trolling internet. Not much you can do about it, except use the brig option to keep them quarantined until they get bored enough to leave.

  • @doctorfork thanks for the reply.
That’s unfortunately what I expected was the case. They seem to join in groups and then put ME in the brig, sink the ship then leave.
I don’t understand it but like I say can only put this behaviour down to boredom or not reaching puberty yet.
It’s a shame they want to ruin the experience for myself and others and can’t put their energy and time to better use

  • @mkgooner33 Sadly, some players just want to see the world burn. I have been brigged many times even though I was the one steering/sailing/cooking/fishing/firing/boarding/repelling/other pirate actions.

  • I've done open crew once and never will I again. As you said it's full of trolls and even myself has been one of those trolls but even when trolling it's never that fun because everyone expects it when joining open crew unless you just started playing or you ju st never experienced it either in game or witnessing another player e.x your friend someone streaming or on yt

  • @orion2991 honestly they should remove it because it never works and replace it with a lfg similar to the lfg in overwatch so like in game where you can see other players and they describe what they want to do or what kind of person they're looking for. And yes I know xbox has a lfg page for SoT and there is an official SoT discord for that but most the time especially for kids under 18 they can't find anyone cause most posts on xbox I've seen are like no adults and or 420 friendly

  • open crew is where i meet my best man for the helm

open crew is also where i found bored people with nothing better to do

just leave and don't give them the pleasure of destroying your game

    Well, there's your problem!

In all seriousness, I recommend trying to find crewmates using any other system (Discord, LFG, this forum, etc.) before using open crew.

  • I did open crew galleon for at least a month and I usually just rejoin until I find a crew that is at least functioning before I start doing anything. Despite how there r lots of trolls, people that doesn't talk and kids who can't follow commands, there r sometimes some decent people who u can be friends with. It's a great way to find friends and I met one of my crewmate that way.

  • I can't stand it when open crews do this. I know they planned it right from the Set Sail button.

    I'm tellin all ya'll, it's sabotage.

  • I made a quarter of a million in under 2 hours with my last open crewmate.

  • Theyre just jerks not following the pirate code.

    No benefit at all.
