PvE non progression and PvP progression game modes

  • So I understand that the entire idea of this game was that no matter how long you played this game, everyone is equally equipped and everything is based upon skill based on PvP.

A lot of people want a feeling of progression, like getting more or better cannons, better or stronger weapons. etc, whatever it is to get benefits over another player.

What if you guys make a 2nd adventure mode where you do add these kinds of progression into the game. Or how about mix them up ? These ''non-progression'' game mode servers (as the game is now) as a PvE server where people make allainces and do voyages.
And a PvP game mode server where you can unlock all the above and dreams people have for a pirate game. And adding more then 10 ships into a PvP game mode server with a ship counter somewhere in the menu.

Doing this would expand the target audience for the game and more people will buy the game giving your gaming company more income and the players what they want. Most of my friends stopped playing because there is no such game mode. And every game session feels the same.

I currently feel this game is made for kids who like to use papa's creditcard to buy emotes like dances, or a useless pet what teleport around.

  • @masterpost every game session feels the same? Are we playing the same game?

  • @masterpost and...no to such a progression system

  • @schwammlgott
Why not having such progression ? a lot of people are asking for PvE servers/sessions as they been killed and sunk before finishing their voyage.

Give players an option what they want, it will attract a lot more people into the game.
You will not notice anything from such progression if you're on a PvE server/session, that was my idea.

You give no valid or good argument why you shouldn't add this.

They can't just add something to the game that goes against the core philosophy of the game design, just because a certain crowd of players who dont understand this game want the feature.

It would disrupt the player variety in the shared world as friendly/PvE focused players, or anyone with loot to steal goes to the PvE server where the loot cannot be taken.

They already said no PvE servers several times.

Great but, most of the players just wanna achieve their goals. and right now there isn't a real goal nor fun to start a fresh crew.

The goal of Sea of Thieves is to have an adventure in this Shared World. So, whether your ship sinks or whether you survived, it happened as a result of your adventure in the Shared World.

If you lose loot, the only thing you really lost is the ability to put fancier clothes on your Pirate. That's it.

I would really hate it if they compromised on their remarkable shared world design all so that some of their players have an easier time getting fancier clothes.

  • @chronodusk

That may be true, but it doesn't feel like your losing absolutely nothing but 1-2 hours of gameplay.

  • This game has progression! How can people not see it? Your progression is how you grow as a player and the experiences you share with people playing the game. If they add stuff like that this game will come down to numbers and it will require no actual skill to play this game and pros won't be able to shine as much as the skill-cap will be set by "Oh I have this cannonball because I played this game forever and it allows me to sink your ship instantly from ten yards." How about you actually ask yourself, Did I learn anything new? Did I grow as a player? If so, then that's progression my friend. So many people play either one half or the other of this game and it's so dumb. Your supposed to do pve/pvp at the same time people. If you don't like it go play a mmorpg because that's not what this game is. Oh and one last thing. YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
