Ancient Skeletons are way too rare.

Got extremely lucky at thieves haven. Had two pop up within 20 minutes of each other.

Going to call that the Sea of Thieves lottery.

they are not way to rare

if they were more common there'd be no reason to buy things out of the store

i know it sucks some people may not have the ability to buy things which is what im guessing the case is here ancient coins aren't suppose to be a common currency found out on the seas they aren't the same as loot out in the seas

they aren't suppose to be popping up enough for you to just buy everything in the store it'd defeat the purpose of having it be a purchasable item

they are suppose to give you just the small amount so you'd have to pay less the next time you want that expensive item

I've had like 6 now, but still not enough to buy a ship skin, pricing is 100% greed in the store.

@daringclarky I found my like ~20th today. My third since the update. I just wish I would see the ghost. I dont think they are too rare.

I am at about 15 or so ancient skellies killed and 0 shrouded ghosts.

Yep 15 for me to 22 mill meters sailed and not one sighting

Given the fact that a set is about £30 though it could be a little more common.

However having seen others has spotted between 10-15 or so then i suppose i am just unlucky. I almost exclusively sail solo so perhaps they spawn way less maybe?

@daringclarky I got 3 ancient skeletons, but the funny thing is, I've never even seen them. They always spawned in front of my crewmates when I was in a totally different place!
Anyway, I think they're common enough, the payout is a little underwhelming though (not even 150 coins for such a rare encounter). I know you can get around 800 coins if you're really lucky, but I've never received more than a hundred or so.

Come to think off it, I never encountered them (5 or 6 or so) when sailing solo - only when I was in a crew.

i've only ever run into one gave me 250 ancient coins free pet or i'd only have to spend 20$ for the set instead of 30$ (example as i don't really think the ship sets look cool and didn't pay attention to current prices) but you get the idea what they are suppose to do basically think of ancient skeletons as coupons

Ive spent far too much on cosmetics. Over £100 so thats not entirely true.

Anyways, regarding Ancient Skeletons.
I do kinda feel as if when they do spawn they do so begrudgingly.

I think their entire existence and purpose is to soften the blow on the announcement of micro transactions. But their spawn is ultra rare to the point they dont wanna enable people to grind their way to a set.

I play nearly every day and ive only seen 1 and my average play session is about 6 hours sometimes longer.

Perhaps when private servers become a thing and that leads to rare organised events they can reward currency for winning teams etc as a monthly thing.

and your getting free updates that might aswell count as dlc which you'd have to pay for but the devs decided we get them for free i'd argue that its very much reasonable to have such prices in exchange for free dlc updates

pricey cosmetics which does nothing against free content you get to enjoy for free that adds more to the game is very reasonable

devs got to keep their game afloat somehow they had their initial wave of customers now with it coming to steam they'll have another but then they will be back to the flat line income of few people buying once that wave is over as they aren't charging you money for the content they release be glad its only cosmetics they charge money for and not content
