Lightning should be fixed, because it always seems to strike you no matter where you are. Even if you're inside a building, lightning can still come in and strike you during a storm. Then, you have to go through the trouble of putting out the flames and healing yourself. When I was trying to do the Seabound Soul Tall Tale, our sloop crew died 5 times and wasted all our food. It was so bad that I had to resort to bait to heal. If lightning isn't fixable, then Sea of Thieves should at least focus on making the storms have a shorter duration. The other thing to talk about is Ashen treasures. I personally need Ashen tome of Power 5, but there is no way to get it when the RNG favors Tome of Fire(s). The way Sea of Thieves could fix this is have the option to buy overpriced tomes without unlocking them, or specific chest ashen chest voyages (ashen chest tome of power voyage, ashen chest tome of curses voyage, etc.). This is what needs to be fixed in Sea of Thieves.
Lightning and Ashen treasures
You don't have to put out flames in a storm, the rain does it for you. Holding out your cutlass makes lightning incredibly likely to strike you, so keep that stowed away in storms. Lightning was turned up in damage and amount after the FotD update, mainly because some people just don't get the idea of staying at low health if they actually wanted to die by it, which was honestly a stupid idea in my opinion. It's being turned back down next update, though the penetrative aspect of it is not - that's because it doesn't directly hit you all the time, but instead creates an explosion wherever it impacts, which can go through solid objects.
As for tomes, just keep trying. There's a multitude of ways to get the chests (ambient skeleton ships, random sea monsters, ambient Ashen Guardians, ashen fleets, ashen strongholds), and slightly less ways to get the keys (fishing, ambient Key Masters, and ashen strongholds). You can get it eventually, there's no actual preference to any particular type of tome. It's just annoying RNG.
@bigtoughy24 the frequency of the lightning is getting fixed which it should be had a crewmate to couldn't walk out of the tavern without getting struck ridiculous the second he walked out and got hit
