The Seabound Soul ending question and speculation (Spoilers)

  • Spoilers ahead!!!

Sooo, that ending eh? How epic! Question though, because I’m not tuned up on the lore. Was that Flaneheart Sr or Jr? And what exactly is the difference?

Furthermore, when he mentions Ashen Lords, what do you think he meant? Hopefully some truly tough encounters? I wouldn’t mind seeing these realised through additional Tall Tales etc...

And when Flameheart eventually arrives, I’d love to see him command the Meg we first killed (skelly version of it) and a fleet of lords - to then all accumulate in a huge final battle somewhere like the Shores of Gold.

Wouldn’t say no to an evil vendor setting up behind Wanders hideout too. Someone who tasks us with evil doing of some sort, just to flip the script. What did you all think of the ending? What hopes you got?

  • @kaloudz more importantly, can we be on flameheart's team. He has some compelling arguments

  • @rattlyfob Ohhh, can you imagine being able to pick a side? That’d be pretty epic! Commendations for and against the way of the world.

    SOT Gamepedia says:

In his living life, Flameheart Jr. was rescued and adopted by a pirate known as Flameheart Sr. soon after he was born. Senior nurtured his son with a charmed life and fine education up until his own death, but Junior had another calling. Flameheart drew childhood inspiration from the Pirate Lord to make his own legend on the seas. Before becoming a pirate, he grew up into a scholar who's writings are compiled in Tales from the Sea of Thieves. Flameheart made a trade with Isidro: Flameheart's ancient coin for a ship & crew. After obtaining the Silver Blade, he initially wanted to rename it Liberdade, but was discouraged by possible misfortune upon doing so.

Upon arrival into The Sea of Thieves, Flameheart meets an old woman who gives him a treasure map. Unbeknownst to him, the map led the way to a Kraken's Chest; a haunted vessel contained by the Mermaids that attracts krakens. Soon after unearthing the chest, the Silver Blade is ambushed by competing pirates, forcing Flameheart into retreat, sailing his ship into the Devil's Shroud, where it is destroyed. Stranded on an unknown island, the crew is beckoned into a cave by a riddle leading to a golden chalice of unlimited water. After drinking from the chalice, the crew venture deeper into the cave, slowly losing their human needs and minds, until they are transformed into skeletons. Only Flameheart retained his memories, thereby becoming a Skeleton Lord.

At the end of the cave sat a Skeleton Lord, The Cap'n, former captain of a ship Flameheart Sr. was a part of. He created the riddle that tricked Flameheart's crew into drinking from the cursed chalice, and decides to take him under his wing.

  • @realstyli Thanks a heap for that! That’s really interesting! So, it’s Jr. No mention of what made him so evil between that and his appearance at the end of TSS. I assume we’ll learn more in time?

  • But how came Flameheart from the cave to this Sarcophagus???

Maybe we'll be able to visit this mysterious cave at some point as part of a TallTale, especially since some parts of the map are covered by the shroud. Maybe something in that cave is the key to defeating Flameheart?

  • @kaloudz i feel like it meant this is gonna be the next chapter in our tall tale voyages, first chapter was reaching the shores of gold and defeating the gold hoarder, this one will be deafeating the ashen legends and finally defeating flameheart jr himself. im excited for what will come

  • @kaloudz would add good replayability to it, and honestly imo would make it the best it could possibly be, i mean if you could go both ways in its story that would feel more like a proper story game to me. plus imagine being rewarded like some good team gear and then some bad team gear, could we get some hoarde vs alliance stuff going on in the community lol

My crew was talking about that last night. We sailed around doing Ashen chest missions and keys as well trying to get the skelly kills finished but when someone saw a player ship they would shout " ALL HAIL CAPTAIN FLAMEHEART!" and we would chant back the same and prepare to burn the down to the depths of the sea.

  • @foxywiththemoxy i wonder if the reward for completing this entire tall tale would be a skelly lord curse, how insane would that be. i mean at the end of the gold hoarder tall tale we get the gold hoarder curse, i hope this kinda think follows over, and we start a tradition of these tales ending in some kinda special curse reward. although maybe for us the curse would only maybe make our arms skeletonised or legs, because idk maybe in the story we are saved from the full effects of the curse from something. cause idk i doubt the devs would give us full skeleton curses, although it would be awsome.

We need to have another pirate to choose...…. maybe in skelly form and our cosmetics can change to certain things like so.
    1 No bottom jaw
2 cracked open skull like the villainous skulls
    3 marking on our bones
4 weapons or ship parts sticking out our bodies

There can be loads more of drip fed cosmetics to come...LOL!
