@troubled-cells the ability to add your friends to your game is crazy, what happens when a solo sloop comes up against an 8 man crew, sure people can ally, but thats random, all based on chance, and there is still a lack of trust, and a lack of communication. to be able to invide other friends to your game is just unfair for everyone. they could ally up and farm athenas all day, if this went to being able to get up to 2 friends ships onto the one server imagine how op that would be, they would farm athena gold like its nothing. either way there is no way the devs would add this, its just way to unfair. sure they offer incentive for alliance play through FOTD but i still get in fights at the fort more often then i ally, and i probs end up being betrayed 1/4th of the time. i cant believe people would think this is a good idea. i mean are you guys for 6 ship alliance servers? i see that as an exploit of the alliance system.
I get your point, but I feel like you are threating a bit too much.
Theres plenty of solutions.
Say limit alliance player numbers to 8 per alliance or by ship configuration, for example only 2 gallies, or instead 2 brigs and one slop or 4 sloops, to balance out the player counts so that entire servers just aren't straight up taken over. It would also make for some very interesting alliance battles.
To be honest if someone wants to take over a server currently, it really isn't that hard to do it, nothing is going to stop them, and a lot of players in my experience are fine with letting you have their ship once they are finished.
Way i see it is why not make it interesting and turn it in to a positive with lots of incentive.
