Player voice chat possibly broken. Maybe

    Okay, so whenever i am out at sea and i stumble across other crews and hang around with them, i notice that they will use their speaking trumpets at other crews and they will walk up to me as if asking a question but they never say anything. Now this could be me just being unlucky and having everyone i have ever met have broken mics.
    I have had crew members and i can hear them and sometimes i can hear other people through their mics, but i can not hear them myself.

    On top of this i'm not sure people can even hear my type in text chat, but that's not as bad, it could be them not being able to talk back because i cant hear 'em.

    The issue is not that i can't talk to people, its that i cant hear random people i find, i dont see any talking symbol at all, and i pretty sure they are supposed to be talking. I can hear everything else in my headphones right, i can hear people in my crew, but i dont think i can hear other crew chat

    Is it possible you accidentally clicked the “mute all other crews” option at the pause or voting menu or wherever that is?

    or i've heard sometimes Teredo's acting up. Check your NAT settings in the xbox app. You'll find more info in these instructions:

    @Sir-Lotus No its not that either, my NAT type is moderate. This whole thing very much could be that all the people i find have their mics muted and dont know how it works

    @taaaamas and that's probably your problem. idealy NAT should be open.

    I've had this happen also. It's not on my end, because usually everything works. It's been suggested to me that it's a cross-platform bug, and that seems likely. But it's such an intermittent thing, it's hard to pin down. Usually it works, but sometimes it doesn't. Buggy.
