So....... I'm making me a 3D modeled Ship's Sign ;-)

I'm pretty lucky...I have both a 3D printer and a CNC so I can do it from refrigerator magnet size to full size in wood :-D

Basic sign layout is done. Next step is to drag it into zBrush and start smoothing, sculpting and tinkering.

Well...the Sea of Thieves team at Rare might be able to talk me out of one...but it would not cost them a single dubloon :-D ...thought true be told I'll probably be sending them one anyway!

@specialadvisor I really like the way you ‘plan and scan’ so to speak :D I don’t have that luxury. Just got me a pic and draw freehand from that with a tweak on the way. Would be so much quicker if I had access to your machines lol :D Mind you I’d also probably be broke due to making way more things lol

Well...being a prop maker it's all about getting that 'screen' accuracy. So thus all the refs and hand tracing :-D

Yeah...I am quite lucky with my toys! But...I had a long career and a one does need a hobby after all that! :-D

I pulled the wood parts into zBrush and smoothed them out a bit. There was too much woodgrain for the Sea of Thieves styling. I also added a bump to the bottom center wood piece to better match the screen refs. Next I need to give some attention to the metal frame. Get it to match the refs a bit more. Then on to a Ship's Name :-D

@toten0kopf Thanks! First test print will likely be refrigerator magnet size or there abouts. 3 1/2 inches or so wide and whatever tall.

I should have put "Fury of the Placeholder" as in the Sea of Thieves Art Book examples :-D This was just a test. I'll have to use a much bolder font to survive 3D printing at the test print scale. Just wanted to see how it would look though...this font is called Tradewinds. It's by David Occhino. He does a lot of exceptional Disney-themed fonts. Well worth the price IMHO

I had an 'oops' moment there. I forgot to add the flag tip elements into the test :-D Corrected.

My next challenge will be the font to use. My current font as shown above is a bit to thin and flowery for this. I'd sure like to know what font the Sea of Thieves team is using here...?
