**okay so it wouldn't let me post what I wanted to so i had to cut it down to that.

what i originally wanted to say was this
It's not really fair for other ships to 3rd party you while in HG.

  • @jedisquirel why? You are putting the PvP faction up though so you are saying you want to fight other ships. It's the same as voting down Reapers and what are you saying you don't want people coming to fight you. Im a daily HG player and occasionally get 3rd partied. Most times we just stop the HG match take care of the 3rd partier then continue on or its a great 3 ship battle. If you don't want to fight other ships then I suggest don't vote to specifically play PvP

  • Mister squirrel, i see what you mean... and how blunt elmo is on everyone's posts... But the third partier is somewhat similar to the sea dogs anyway, if 2 were fighting, a third could come in as well, even if they had no fuss to begin with. I didn't play back when the sea dogs were a thing, but i know third partiers will always happen. My suggestion: Be prepared, and pray.

  • Oh. no that is ridiculous. I thought you were using a brigantine or galleon... but soloing is rough. I've tried... it pitted me against a galleon, so maybe it should set you up with like ships.

my apologies! I was on my phone and i had meant to quote/comment to the other person when they said I shouldnt pvp if im not prepared for 3rd partiers. My HG match was a solo sloop vs solo sloop with a gally that 3rd partied and only targeted my boat along with boarders. It is what it is, just a game, but theres not much to do in those situations unfortunately.

so as an HG player I'm expected to take on a gally and a sloop as a solo player or not play HG? I'm sorry, but expecting to be able to take on 5 players as a solo player is a bit ridiculous for the normal player. By your standards most players shouldnt PVP.

  • All good. Sounds like they probably allied up and called the galleon over when fighting you if the galleon only targeted your ship.

All fair in war. And I bet if another ship helped you win, you be fully okie because maybe you were losing that fight until the other ship showed up.

If I’m reaper and see a reaper fighting Athena. I’m gonna help my fella pirates. Same with Athena.

People just upset that often they are one being target of third party ships.

If they end up making HG it own arena. It be less popular as it is. Because nobody will be fighting in adventure, if I see two ships fighting, I’m gonna join regardless of HG status

  • Not sure why this hasn't been made a thing, ngl. Huge streaks can get ruined easily by a 3rd party, and most HG grinders agree it doesn't feel great. My only question is how they could implement this without removing defending, as there are comms tied to it (I also enjoy defending from time to time, too, honestly)

I dont know, but I hope they do it somehow. Today I had a grade 5 flameheart 3rd party us and went after the other boat, I was able to launch out to the other boat and have them get to my boat so they could sink me fast before the other boat got them worse since they were focused on them. They had a grade 3 flag and i was a grade 1 at the time so I didnt want them to lose their flag/streak unfairly. luckily my boat sank fast and hopefully they were able to get away from them and sell.

Not a huge problem when you don’t see those huge streaks enough. And it still a pirate game, hourglass a pvp tool

I see players fighting, I’m gonna fight them. (If I choose)

It’s baffling that players are upset when a player joins in on pvp. You sign up for pvp, you have pvp but when someone fights alongside or both, it’s a crime.

This why I hope they don’t touch it. We need these fights to happen on already quiet sea.

  • Moving HG to the Sea of the Damned is a net positive for both the Adventure and Hourglass experience.

HG players overwhelmingly don't want to be on Adventure servers.

Adventure players overwhelmingly either don't want them there because they are just wasting 1/3 of the server space, or they don't have an opinion one way or the other.

    Net positive.

Just do it...and make it a main menu option while you're at it. There's no need to consume adventure server space just for diving off of it.

  • I don't see how difficult it is to make a spin-off of the High Seas server that literally just migrates both users after the winner is decided, OR provides a short breathing window for the winner before they must dive again or sail to lower their hourglass; if they do cash in their hourglass, the server is flagged for 'regular high seas mode' and no new HG battles appear. There would be a window for them to interfere with other battles; not ideal but also less likely they will; the server could also provide a nice bonus like a Reaper Chest or two in order to keep them distracted. They can have up to three HG matches happening simultaneously in the same server if they do this right, not so? And this would also make it very unlikely for the victor of one battle to meaningfully interfere with another battle. I feel like this should be low hanging fruit and is a good compromise from an entirely dedicated server yet satisfies the major concern.

  • @burnbacon While Hourglass is a PvP mode, during limited-time events like Community Weekend it's a huge inconvenience to be forced into random invasions when you're trying to build and cash in a streak. I think players should have the option to queue for a dedicated Hourglass arena instead of open-world matchmaking. Those who enjoy the unpredictability could still choose the previous gamemode "last ship standing", while players looking for a more competitive, uninterrupted fight could opt into an arena. I don't really see what's holding Rare back from offering both options.
