Look I love this game. I have been playing casually since 2018. But i swear this is the worst, skill-less, zero strategy PvP combat I have ever seen in a video game. The second another players climbs up on your ship and drop your anchor its game over. Especially if you are not a sweaty tryhard like most the [mod edit] who play this game. The idea that any player can just climb on your ship and drop your anchor is ridiculous. The worst part of it all is the fact that they can just spawn camp you over and over and over and over and over again. Requires zero strategy which is shocking for a pirate game. Please if anyone from Rare reads this I beg you to change this awful combat system. Allow me, the player, to raise my ladder to avoid psychos from climbing up at will. Remove the ability to drop anyone's anchor and make the only way to stop a ship from moving by destroying its mast. And make is that if you want to board a ship you have to sail up close to it, harpoon it, and drop a wooden board to walk on. And please for the love of all things holy delete the spawn camping. This game is fun but its cursed with terrible sweaty fortnite PVP combat.

I bet you dropped like at least 3 insult filled rants at people in voice after losing in the pirate game today.
What you’re describing isn’t that complicated from either side, boarding or guarding. Your biggest complaint seems that someone got on your boat who was better than you.

Never played Fortnite or Minecraft? Pvp is horrible ther.
But in sot, what appears to me you have yet to figure out any form of strategy to combat boarders. Or know tools that help.

If it is "skill-less" how can it be difficult then to fight opponents?
Due to the sandbox SoT is in a way easier than other PvP games which often require heavy mechanical skills.
In any case, there are enough tutorials out there to prevent boarders or fight close combat.
Or avoid fights and be more sneaky or avoid it alltogether by playing Safer Seas.

Saying this while subsequently detailing a strategy (dropping anchor) and skill (spawn camping ya) undermines your argument somewhat.
Dude throw a blunder bomb at the ladder and it knocks the boarder off...
I do get irritated with spawn camping tbh but that's just how it is.
The best way to prevent spawn camping is by the Devs locking the ammo crates on enemy vessels to enemy players so that boarders don't have an endless supply of ammunition and have to leave and return to their ship especially when double gunning, this would work in reverse though so if you board an enemy ship, you have a limited supply of ammo to use before you have to leave to reload, if you are double gunning, this would shake things up a bit and you would find more people utilising the cutlass and since it's a pirate game, cutlass fights on the top deck of saling vessels would be cool and it would maybe give newbies a bit more of a fighting chance as the cutlass is an easy to use hard to master PvP weapon.
