How to correctly price Video Game Purchasables 101

    So you made a video game. Amazing.
    You chose to make it a live service. Great.
    You introduced a currency to it that you now want to reset and revamp. Fantastic.
    You want the players to be able to purchase items with the currency before you reset it. Good on you.
    But how should you price all those Items? And how many should there be?

    Well your Game features Sets of Cosmetics, doesn't it? Why not introduce a full set of cosmetics and price them all the same?
    So a Full set of, lets say, 10 Items, each costing 500 Doubloons?

    But what if not all players have equal amounts of coin?

    Just recolor the sets and charge more for certain Colors. It's basically 0 effort. And Players will enjoy having more cosmetic options.
    So make a Normal, Black and Gold Version and charge 50 / 500 / 5000 for each piece of the set (colors may vary).

    See? That was easy. Go treat yourself to some 25$ Filtered Water, you deserve it.

    Or you could just make one of the Items 20x as expensive as the others you [Mod edit]

    I know I know we shouldn't expect this amount of effort and manpower from a Tattoo parlor that occasionally works on a video game.
    It's not like they made this whole affair into a major part of the next season of their game, fortunately.

    I mean could you believe that? Forcing a nonsubstantial thing be a major season selling point and then not even put any effort in it?

    They could never.

  • Hey at least you can missmenage game for at leat 7 years and gaslighting your consumer's into sympathize with you.

    It's so crazy that it worked with

    • arena that died slow death of neglect and when folks scraped it into tdm ground it was fastly mythologies into troll heaven of toxicity.

    • NDA that shielded them from critics of lot of stupidity they realised, or how much reported big they ignore (I will remember that one dude reacting same bug trough 3 builds only to see it in live)

    • every poorly released season

    • 7 years of cosmetic drought in cosmetic based games

    • dubloons reset that aim into funneling players into more fomo (knowing that folks hate fomo to the ground) and recycled content.

    And yet they sympathy fram. What a team, what a team.

    Be careful, humor is dead within the Sea of Thieves, big brother is watching

    All they need to do is reduce the sword price to 5k instead of 50k. Better yet, switch around the prices so the title and sails are more valuable while the sword and clothes are pretty cheap

    In my opinion, they should not even have the sword because it's catering to the worst player-base (sword lords).
