The Gold Hoarders

  • Anyone else feel they are the worst faction for earning cash?

Lets just do a loot comparison

    Castaway's Chest - sells for 60-130 gold
    Seafarer's Chest - sells for 140-258 gold
    Marauder's Chest - sells for 300-520 gold
    Captain's Chest - sells for 500-1200 gold

Lets do a net comparison with the Order of Souls

Foul Bounty Skull - sells for 90-175 gold
Disgraced Bounty Skull - sells for 180-350 gold
Hateful Bounty Skull - sells for 310-850 gold
Villainous Bounty Skull - sells for 835-1402 gold

    And the Merchant Alliance
White Feathered Chicken/Pink Pig/Red Striped Snake - sells on average for 100 gold
Red Speckled Chicken/Pink and Black spotted Pig/Blue Dappled Snake - sells on average for 300 gold
Black Plumed Chicken/Black Coated Pig/Black Scaled Snake - sells on average for 700 gold
Golden Chicken/Gold Striped Pig/Golden Snake - sells on average for 1500 gold

And cargo runs? they are newly buffed

Perfect regular cargo - sells for 700 a pop
Perfect roar cargo - sells for 1400 a pop

On average the gold hoarders are just the company who will make you poor by working for them. It seams strange that the so called "gold obsessed" company is the one that nets you the lowest payouts.

I imagine this is because it's alot easier and quicker to dig up 8 chests than it is to kill 4 captains.
Plus skeletons have alot more rng on then than chests.
For example fighting skeletons ontop of plunder with no ammo box who happen to be gold skeletons.

    As for merchants.
Being attacked by players as a merchant is a quick way to see your profits dive as your animals die and your bottles cracked, same applies for Random encounters like skelly ships.

Personally if I want to earn gold. The gold hoarders are usually a first pick for me.

  • @knight-regius I would agree with that (especially the other players bit).

Just the other day I was delivering cargo on a solo sloop, brig rolls up by the time I had already recounted my costs (seriously, one cargo is all it takes to make back the investment), so I smashed my own bottles and soaked the cloth when they tried boarding me, waved, and danced when the fired. If I can't have the full value of my cargo, no one else can.

That aside, I make about 4,900 per cargo run. The average time is about 10 minutes, depending on location. So if anything, i'd certainly say it is a good source of cash (namely if you are transporting plants).

  • I totally subscribe under this thread. Still it didn't change much. Rare please do something about it. There is very little reason to do Gold Hoarders' voyages now.
