Did they nerf letters of recommendation recently? I wanted to level up all the way to Pirate Legend with Doubloons but it wouldn't let me buy more the one level of each faction. Afterwords it locked me out of buying any more levels. Haven't seen anything in the forums so I thought I'd ask.

The cooldown period is for a full month from the last letter you purchased to give you reason to earn the majority of the reputation levels with the chosen faction through the commendation and loot hand in progress.

I have not purchased any LoR, so I cannot verify the above.
From the Patch Notes: "Players will now be only able to purchase a single Letter of Recommendation for each Company in each month."
There are two way I see this working.
- Once in each month, so September 30th (GMT) you could buy one and then again on October 1st (GMT).
- Once per monthly update, so it could reset on September 11th, October 9th, November 6th, etc.
I think #1 makes the most sense with the line quoted from the Patch Notes and something worth either testing out or asking a mod/support to clarify.
@thatshawnguy As mentioned, since the Update on the 11th, Letters of Recommendation are now limited to 1 per Trading Company per month, due to the abundance of Doubloons available to players now.
Letters of Recommendation – Players are now earning a steady stream of Doubloons through the on-time delivery of Rag and Bone Crates and hoarding of Reaper’s Chests, in addition to the Mercenary Voyages being made available for free! So under the provision of the Trading Companies, Duke has begun restricting the flow of Letters of Recommendation. Players will now be only able to purchase a single Letter of Recommendation for each Company in each month.
