Rare has added a new currency to the game twice now and it seems the regular shops are ignored and there is nothing new there. The shops in athenas feel abandoned. It seems the core game is being ignored for dull evenrs and recieving useless currency. Now the cosmetics are being placed behind paywalls and feel well over priced. This feels like a declining moment for SoT.
Abandoned shops and useless currency
@blatantwalk4260 I for the most part agree, though I also think it is a good thing that everything isn't just purchased with gold. Rare really messed up their economy originally with gold by making forts too easy to farm, and not keeping up on cosmetics. Now, their hand is forced and they have created new & harder to earn currencies & have to incentive going for them by locking limited time cosmetics behind them. I do wish there was a way to use doubloons to offset ancient coin purchases, up to a minimum amount like $5 of ancient coins needed.
@peteloaf777 microtransactions are fine but for the regular shops to be abandoned and for the stuff in duke to just be items with a quick recolor is pretty meh.
I made a very similar post about this a few weeks ago.
I 100% believe that there is no point for Rare to add anything to the regular shops when they can force us to pay real money or keep coming back every month for âexclusives.â
The biggest proof of this is that they still, after a year and a half. Havenât bothered finishing the cosmetic sets that have been in the game since day one.
But hey! For the low low price of like $20 bucks you can get a blue and yellow ship set! Or $5 for a monkey thatâs got about the same level of excitement as a toy out of a gum ball machine!
Iâm not mad about their micro transactions, itâs my choice to spend the money. But a game that revolves around cosmetics should maybe have more than recolors or four incomplete sets.
@oroku I could see the monkey as a 99cent item and the ship at like 9.99 and maybe 4.99 for the emotes. At the most 14.99 for the ship
I'm more for finding and suggesting a solution. For one, there are several items in the merchant shops (including legends) that need to be duplicated in different colors! Skull caps! The purple pirate legend outfit is hideous! Give us an array of colors to choose from in those shops and let us trade in old colors! From time to time mix in a little new stock and everything will be fine. Introduce new skull caps with a tail in micro transactions for a buck. There's plenty they can do to correct this issue. The question is....... Will they?
@duke-of-spire hopefully rare hears us and next month we see a bit more across the board cosmetic wise and maybe a better event
