How do i escape skeleton galleon solo?

  • In my little sloop i can fight these skellies off if i have stocked up however ive switched to a Brig and i love the speed on it, its now my primary ship.

Lets say a skelly ship appears or i just dont notice it in time, what is the best way to escape these things?

Lets assume we are in open water with no islands nearby and i wanna keep my crew solo, am i doomed?

    Thanks.

  • @daringclarky For me personally I use islands and rocks, use your harpoon to do some turns around scenery.

You can usually easily avoid them through that. :)

Edit: With no islands use the rocks at sea. Or just turn straight into the wind in a straight line.
    Usually works for me.

You don't always need to escape. Fight.

Hug the side of the galleon, turn your wheel into them, adjust your sails so not to overtake. You will end up in a spiral with them. This stops them cannoning you, if you have holes, patch.. but keep one open & bucket on to them. Keep your health up, and keep an eye that you will not separate from the galleon. Cannon close in occasionally, to keep galleon holes open and to kill some skellies.

A good tactic for the solo slooper, and you can get some loot out of it as well.

Can they catch u still if u are going against the wind?
I know player galleons cant but arent the skelly ships much faster?

  • Search for rocks / islands and sail a course the skellies can't follow. I am not sure about if beeing far away will stop the hunt.
Next advice: find another ship and persuade the skeletons to hunt it, I love doing that.

No, skeletons use a spiritual boost. They accelerate like a spirit, brake immediately and sail faster than the wind, in all directions, even against the wind. The wind, it seems,
    blows through them.

Just pointing this out, the larger ship you sail, the chances of having a Skalleon spawning on you. So by choosing to solo a brigantine, you have indirectly increased the difficulty of the game. If you were to keep on a sloop, you will run into the Skalleons less.

Stated just in case you didn't know.

  • You aren't doomed, but you need to get to cover quick.

Your best bet is to head to the closest Fort. Beach your Sloop (anchor) up as close as you can get. Repair.

Hop off and utilise the cannons on the Fort and in the Towers to shoot at the Skellie Ship as it circles the Island (which it will do). Then run back to your ship every time they pass out of firing range and repair the holes that they made. They will shoot all the CC's at your Sloop. Since you aren't on it (except to patch holes) you won't be affected.

Repeat until they sink. There's other ways to fight them, but this way always works.

  • @daringclarky In open sea head directly into the wind, building up speed until the skeleton ship draws up along side you. When it does you want to turn hard right/left and drop the anchor to turn 180 degrees, then raise it again (takes longer on the brig solo but there's still enough time) and sail off with the wind directly at your back to escape them.

  • Brigantine is my new solo ship too, I'm loving it!

It's the fastest ship with broadside winds. So fast it can outrun megalodon's charge #truestory ...been there done that.
And if you're only looking to run from anything or anyone do just that - angle the sails fully to the side and catch the boardside wind and you'll be flying.

To outmaneuver others, as suggested above, make use of rocks/islands.

Also, watch closely how the wind is shifting all the time, sometimes it's turning clock wise, other times counter-clock wise, and occasionally it flips on you... observing and understanding the wind's behavior will help you steer clear from getting yourself cornered on the map.

The only crew capable of catching you in solo brigantine is a full crew on another brigantine... if they work together, that is.
