I had an interesting idea regarding the Shrouded Ghost.
First, there is a 5-level achievement for killing shrouded ghosts as a pirate legend. Has anybody even completed level 2? Do we know what the fifth tier count is?!?
Right now it realistically seems unachievable at current spawn rates. But what if...
My idea is this:
Tske the current rate whatever that is, and any person or crew has that chance. I like that it's super rare and am. Ot advocating differently. For the space of this idea, let's say it is 0.05% (1 in 2000). That means if you saw four negs a day, every day, you might see one in playing for while playing every day 15 months straight, on average. I don't know if that's accurate, but again... Just an example. A brand new solo slooper has that chance of any meg being a ghost.
Now for the twist. Take the person on a crew with the highest number of fully complete commendations (level-5). Each commendation that person has completed increases the spawn chance by 0.0015% which seems insanely small.
But if a user completed EVERY trading company commendation in the game (approximately 120 if my count was right), they bump their chances up from 0.05% up to 0.23% (1 in 450). Still exceedingly rare but it means if you are seeing 4 different megs a day every day, you may average a ghost every four months.
This has three effects:
First, the legendary commendation might actually be achievable for the dedicated.
Second: It provides SOME level of control to the player to complete. The commendation instead of "I got lucky."
Third: it gives pirate legends a reason to complete commendations in factions they may otherwise be ignoring. Didn't bother getting 128 skull forts for OoS after getting PL? Now you have a reason to! Got to 50 in hunters call so stopped trying to chase cooking kraken meat? Thought you were done delivering golden animals?? Think again!!!
Even from a game perspective it can make sense. Hunters call has the most commendations and would therefore boost your chances of finding the ghost the most. Thematically, the more experienced you are on the seas, the more contacts you have feeding you information and rumor, and the more skill you have in hunting the beast down... Like Merrick himself.
What do y'all think? Reasonable? Interesting? Would you revisit unfinished commendations if it helped bag a ghost?
