Skull Keep...home of the Battlegill?

  • So I didn't spend much time here...got about 6-7 casts in and moved on...only thing that was interested in my grub was Splashtails...did end up catching a Trophy Umber Splashtail (woot) so that was sweet...any way...no sign of any Battlegills. So is Skull Keep a "Fort?" Battlegills are caught at forts...yeah? Any tricks I need to know about...other than needing a grub? Thanks.

  • @saltysiberian You know the forts have to be active for battlegills to spawn, hey?

  • @saltysiberian

    On Active Forts

    One that works.
    Is go in light.

Just yourself, or with a rowboat ( park your ship up a safely as you can at a near by island, cannon across, but keep an eye out ).
If an outer Cannon Tower has a small platform at it's base you can easily set up camp there. These tend to be out of range of pistol skellies.

If you go in just by yourself, mermaid back to your ship when you are full (6 fish...one on line).

If you go in with rowboat, use it to store your fish. Remember to split supplies from your main ship & bring them with you, just incase things go south.
At least you have a chance to save some of your supplies should your vessel be sunk & requires a re-spawn. ( Always think ahead )

By not having your ship at the fort... it hopefully makes it less attractive for other players to come visit... unless they intend to do the fort :)
Of course, bring plenty of bait ( you can dig up extra at the fort if you wish ).
Keep Rare fish in your inventory... don't eat them by mistake... I've done this once I learned :)
Between casts pop an eye over to your parked up ship.
Remember to cash in often, don't get too greedy, and cook for best results.

    Good Luck

    Craggy

    Master Hunter

  • you can also catch them at active fleetbattles or near the free roaming skelleons

I'm sure that Muddy Wildsplash was tasty tho :(

It left a bad taste in the mouth moments later... so easy to do if you aren't careful. :(

Sure we got them all in the end matey!
Just a few Random other fish left to finish our Commendations, must get back to that. So much to do in game at the moment :)

Overcast for sure! My pirate can't sleep during the day in the wild due to it being so bright out. Lol

  • @johnnykappow No...to answer your question. And there's the key...it was not active...I was there during the daytime and there wasn't a skeleton to be found...had it all to myself.

  • @saltysiberian well there is your issue, you can ONLY get battlegills at:

    ACTIVE skull forts
    ACTIVE skeleton fleets
Or in proximity of an roaming skeleton ship.

Daytime or nightime makes no issue with a fort or fleet being active or not
