Private servers

  • No, I don't want to do away with pvp, and yes I understand it's an online social game. But so is elite dangerous. They almost doubled their players by adding private servers. Sometimes people would like to play adventure together with their friends, but can't because of the random server spawn. It is kind of pointless to have a social online game if you can't socialize with your friends. And I mean actual friends, not just a random person you met online.

  • I mean you can have your private servers, just so long as they disable treasure, commendations, or any sort of accomplishment.

  • Cool, so I guess since when you die in Elite you lose your ship and it's cargo, maybe you should lose all your current clothing upon character death, and current ship liveries upon sink too yeah?

Elite is Elite and SoT is SoT. Why always try to make unique games like others? You can socialise plenty with your friends by inviting them to your crew. If you need more room, parlay another crew for them to give you their boat by inviting your friends in their crew, then the original crew leaves, you have all the tools already.

Rare already mentioned plans in an interview for potential private servers for mini-games and events in community, but they don't want people to be able to farm gold or rep in those, so expect progress-less servers at some point.

So u want an online multiplayer game to pay for servers so u can play with just a couple of friends?

    Seems selfish

  • This is never going to happen. Yeah it's frustrating when you lose your treasure etc but it's not like you cant log on later or server hop and do the voyage again. It's happened to me countless amount of times and I've done it to people just as many times as well. It is what it is and frankly I and the majority of the player base are glad.

I don't understand how adding private servers will diminish the game.

It won't as long as there is an incentive for players to play in public servers. It's a pvevp game, not a private server grindfest.

With that being said, I'm with the group and you're a dum dum just for having your own opinion. Think of the community next time

Well if having your own opinion is being dumb, that is your opinion and you are entitled to it, but that's not what anyone said.

People can always voice their opinion all they like and that's fine, but there seems to be a pattern here that makes me wonder if OP got misled on the premise and concept of the game? 🤔

"No, I don't want to do away with pvp"

With a bit of contradictions here

"Please make pvp optional. No need to make new servers."

I wanna point out that if your purpose is just to socialize with your friends, then you can do this now.

You can log into the game and stand there and chat away. If you sink or get killed, then you get a new boat and keep sailing.

You can even sit in the lobby and chat....
If the point of this request is truly just to socialize with your friends, then what is holding you back in adventure???

  • go play a pve game there are tons on the market.
