Can we get some pockets over here???

  • Okay I’m officially over this game... like at first I’d play for hours on end with all my friends because guess what!? It’s a really good game! The graphics is awesome and the gameplay is so smooth... but I have a problem! Everytime I do a Tall Tale quest and I’m literally heading back to the outpost to hand in whatever it is to finish the quest.... boom! My ship gets sunk and I get kill PLUS the other players stole my thingy ( shroudbreaker, Briggie’s Skull, rose and George pendants etc.) and now I’m sitting in my room waiting to respawn at a totally random location which it ALWAYS on the other side of the map from where you originally were... having to start alllllll ovveeeeer agggaaiiinnn...
So Mister Rare, I write to you today as a clearly frustrated gamer suggesting this:

    1. How about implementing a little belt pack thing ( I can’t post the word here) or pirate’s purse? This can hold
a)ONLY ONE tall tales items and
      b) can only be accessible by your player
      c) if you die it’s still attached to you.
I think making it exclusive to tall tales will ensure that the game is still balanced, pirates can still be pirates- fight and stole etc and cowards like I am can still complete a quest without feeling like two hour of my life has been wasted.
      d) another option could be that you could either find this belt pack thingy/ purse anywhere on the map like you would a treasure chest OR you could buy it as a piece of clothing as one of the belt options (expensive or not you decide)
    2. Pockets? Maybe? Could hold one item, not necessarily exclusive to tall tales items however it would make movement speeds quicker if we had both hands to swim/run.
I hope you do consider this option, I’ve read the legal rules etc so I understand all that legal stuff...
I’d love if something like that was added to the game it would make life much easier and make the game less frustrating.

  • @summerblist good idea in my opinion. It's not like the tall tale items have any value to anyone but the person on the quest. I also agree the "pocket," should be limited to only tale tale items. Should not be able to store an athena or anything else that other crews can sell themselves.

  • @ronin20 finally someone agrees! I love this game! I even bought it even though it’s on game pass! So I really don’t want my money to go to waste because I feel depressed every time I look at the game. 😢

  • @summerblist I used to do the tales solo slooping but found I was too paranoid everytime I saw a ship near me. Id run off and each tale would take me far too long. Lol. Now i only do them with my gallon crew but they seem pretty disinterested in doing them all 5 times. 🤔

Your pocket idea might make me go back to them solo.

  • I'm genuinely surprised that you even cam across a ship, from my experience of doing all of the tall tales solo I only saw 3 and only one of them came after me, I understand your reasoning behind this idea but it would defeat the whole purpose of the game as it is literally called 'Sea of Thieves' so you must have a consequence for having treasure aboard

  • @ronin20 @summerblist the problem with this is that Joe said in a video they are looking to add a sell value to these items.

  • @summerblist
They made the Tall Tale items stealable on purpose. Without players being a threat, you would have beaten those quests way to easy

  • i dont know bruh, why did you get sank in first place ?

  • @summerblist
I'd rather they add checkpoints in the middle of the tales. Make them harder so it's still balanced, but I don't want to have to do the same thing for an hour and a half again because I missed a small book... They could then add value to the items without it being a problem because you'd only lose 30 minutes or so. To those who say that each tale is a checkpoint, 1-2 hours between checkpoints is too long, and each tale is still its story.

  • I would love to have a checkpoint or a pocket just for the Tall Tale items/missions so that if anything happens to you and you die and your ship gets sunk, you don't lose your item or TT progress. I've had this happen before right at the end of a TT and it can be frustrating to lose hours of progress, especially when you're trying to do each TT five times for the achievements.

  • @summerblist 2 words...

    1. Pirate
    2. Game

what do you expect it is literally called Sea Of THIEVES you expect literally everyone to be nice to you??

Sarah Dessen once said "If you expect the worst, you'll never be disappointed."

  • @nwo-azcrack understandable however how do you explain the fact that the items can’t be redeemed by other players , basically useless if they don’t have the tall tales quest active.. so why make it stealable?

  • @summerblist said in Can we get some pockets over here???:

It's literally how the game's mechanics work. As soon as an item like a chest, skull, or Tall Tale item is uncovered, anyone in the world can interact with it. Same reason why everyone can interact with the lanterns, sails, etc on everyone else's ships.

It can be used in any way you wish. Are you going to steal the Tall Tale items from this crew, or are you going to band together and help them? Maybe you're going to carry their stuff around for them, or you're going to make off with it as soon as their backs are turned?

It's a pirate-themed game. It has "thieves" in the title. The main selling point of the game is the freedom of interaction you have with your crew and other crews. It adds a level of uncertainty that means you need you keep a weather eye on the horizon at all times.

  • @athena-fortune5 that’s odd? I don’t recall asking anyone to be nice to me? 🤔
This is a forum for feedback and suggestions to improve the game, if you disagree that’s fair however suggesting the game is only for Ruthless Pirates is an overstatement.

  • @ronin20 the fact you cant sell tale items is odd. Since you cant then they should make a seperate Tale item inventory for only tale items. I do not get why they did not do this. If they make them stealable then they should be items you can sell. Currently they are in a very weird place.

  • @starquest that's why Joe Neate said they are going to be adding a value to them. so we can steal and hand them in.

    This.

Also i believe the made them worthless so players dont camp the quest areas for profit.

I think that is why they have been trying to add more areas to the simpler TT. Less change if being camped.

I'm never going to camp a TT spot, seems like a waste of time but if the items have decent value I'll cash them rather than trying to return them.

To encourage you to protect it, giving you the thrill of risk.

That's good but weird it wasn't like this from the beginning.

  • They could have filled the treasure vault rooms with treasure as well as tale items. Missed opportunity there as well.

  • We've all "wasted time" at one point or another in this game so what makes "wasting time" doing Tall Tales so special? Whether you've lost 8 villainous skulls from an OOS mission or a Tall Tale Totem is inconsequential as I see it. Every voyage will face risks. It's part of the game.
