  • @lavashield sorry to read of your tough times.
Pirate legends are plentiful as it is easier to achieve, so it is easier to find one that is unmerciful. I disagree on your comments on summit type players as that style of play doesn't get to me. I am not the best with a sword or pistol, but I seem to do fine against them. Alot of this game is keeping an eye on your surroundings.

I recommend using xbox LFG feature or joining one of the many discord fleets. You can find them on this forum such as Rogue Legends. You'll find yourself in crews with pirate legends and may learn a few more tips on how to beat the aggressive players. Don't give up hope. You got this. Hope to see you on the seas!

  • @lavashield
I really have no clue what you are talking about. Nearly every lobby is full of pasifists. Even flying the reaper flag they dont wanna fight. Im usually the only one who attacks others every session.

  • @nwo-azcrack he said the past two days so I think it's just his luck of the servers he joined. Small sample size. I agree overall it is very passive even with a lot of gunpowder on everyone's ships!

  • @lavashield I have been playing since launch and most majority of lobby’s are now friendly. Always keep an eye out. Don’t take ur eye of the boat. The first step in avoiding any type of danger is being observant. Every time I have sank it was on me not paying attention. Every time on ship do a perimeter check. If you see a ship have somone stay on or be more alert.

  • @lavashield said in What happened to the game???:

When I started playing sea of thieves the game was fun and toxicity was hard to come by. Pirate legends were nice and helpful and there was maybe one sweat per lobby. Now the game is unplayable. Pirate legends are toxic and everyone is wanting to be like summit1g, and summit is the most toxic SOT player ever. The game now is no longer fun as rare wants to make the game more like summit wanted and made PvP so common adventure and arena are practically the same thing. It's been like this for 2 days.

A lot of players have discovered that SoT supports player griefing without repercussion, under the guise of "PvP", so many solid players have left the game, and mostly toxic players have stayed. It's sadly not working out :(

  • @andyxxpanda1290 i always have guys on the ship at all times however the problem is when they tell you "were under attack" its to late a gunpowder keg goes off and we sink. then in game chat (even though im on xbx i talk in.) I hear "You're trash" or "NOOB" and often times they are pirate legends. it also doesnt help that pvp feels more clonky and cannons way more powerful. Getting to pirate legend takes so long since im in the higher area and i cant get voyages or forts done without an attack from a pirate legend galleon

  • Personally I've had only 3 ships come for me and sink me in over a year of solo slooping. The coordination and speed of a Brig can be the death of a solo slooper.

Other then that I've been the scourge of the 7 seas!

Sink first and ask questions later. If they are salty then enjoy it that much more and hunt them down till they leave server.

Don't need that kind of negativity in my game. 🤣

Learn from being sunk and live to fight another day!

  • @lethality1
SoT doesnt support griefing. They gave u all the tools to avoid it. Scuttling, muting players, infinite lives, infinite ships. What more can they do?
Rare wants an open world pvpve game with no restrictions. If you cant accept that, then why keep playing?

  • When the game launched there was a lot of Bilge Rat adventures that had you work with other crews to complete right now there is any so most player run them either solo or with there crew and either everyone on that sever does their own thing or one or two crews go fight everyone else but that’s what great about the game you never know what’s going to happen as for toxic players their sadly in every game player have to remember this is a PIRATE game your ganna get attack by others and I’m sure we’ll see events in the future where everyone works together again

  • @mouse-n-keybord right iv never been mad because a crew sunk us and took our loot if we wanted it so bad we should have been smarter or fought harder to keep it

They can make in-game repercussions for griefers. You know, like... every other game.

So what more can they do?

    • enable a law/bounty system for Outposts and griefers
    • award progress for progression on voyage objectives, rather than requiring turn-in
    • incentivize pirating. not murder
    • penalize suicide death

The game already does not recognize player kills, so... there's any number of things they can and should do to make sure the game doesn't die from players leaving.

  • I’m not sure when the OP started the game I started when it came out and I don’t remember any niceties

  • @lethality1 bounty system can be exploited. The voyage gives you treasure, but it isn’t your treasure until you turn it in. Murder in this game is piracy, fantasy piracy, which is what the game is based off of. Suicide death means you can’t kill more than the amount you blew up. It also means you left a fight with your crew down a man.

Your suggestion don’t add any help and I think you want to say PvP in this game is griefing just because they are spawn killing you to
    A. Sink you
    or
    B. Take fish and supplies.
    And
If C. Happens (killing just to kill)
Scuttle the boat, you already lost at that point.

  • @lethality1
I think Rare has done more than enough.
Even tho @WestStormborn has already addressed your ideas i wanna add

You have been around enough to know it wouldnt make any sense for the factions to give you rep for diggin up something. They would have no idea what happened to you after you left the dock.

Rare made loot plentiful. Its everywhere and easy to get. This encourages pirating. Its a pvp game so killing players is part of taking the loot. Its not murder.

Again you have been around to know Rare tested death penalties. Its not gonna happen. If you commit suicide or not.

All your ideas are rules. Not tools

  • @lavashield need to be more aware not let them get that close

  • Played from the beginning and still playing. The Sea are totally calm now compared to what was before. I have had one battle in two weeks of playing.

Sorry OP I disagree totally with what you are saying.

  • @glannigan

Exactly! It was brutal. You took your eyes off the horizon for 2 minutes and you would be sunk.

I miss those tense early days 🙂

  • I think I know the type of player the OP is talking about and I know of the streamer they mentioned and I do agree that the attitude is not how we, as a community, like to see PvP in the game play out.

The Pirate Code doesn't mean pacifism, and I have objected to PvE servers forever because the choice of PvP is an important part of the game. But so is respect for your adversary and you pick your battles fairly on the seas... If you meet a player who clearly is not as good as you by a long way, that's not a fight you should be proud to take on (unless they attack you first, of course).

To be clear, I don't believe this is a major issue right now - It seemed to be far worse back in January. But if you do meet actual toxic players, just jump servers. Honestly, getting salty (even coming here and ranting about it) is just playing into their hands.

    This a thousand times THIS,

Would love to hear more from you @RealStyli as you truly understand what it means to be Pirate.

  • You know I've been playing since beta and things are MUCH calmer now. In the beginning it was a bloodbath. Every ship was hostile. Nowadays its actually a joke. Most ships just keep their distance and leave eachother alone. People barely fight over skull forts anymore. First come first serve. I've been solo slooping the last two weeks while my crew is taking a break. Nobody bothers me at all. I did all the reaper missions solo. Not one ship has made the slightest aggression towards me.

Nah, I'm just playing the game and having fun, while trying not to ruin it for others. I tend mostly towards PvE solo slooping but I'm not adverse to PvP if a player attacks me.

More often than not, I can handle myself in a fight and come out on top. If I don't, I only lose loot and I care less about the gold these days, there's always plenty of it. Apart from losing progress in a Tall Tale, there's very little that would get me really annoyed in the game now.

If I meet a truly "toxic" player (ones that throw around slurs or generally harass me beyond the confines of the game), I report, block and move on. Thankfully though, those players are not that common and I have met some great players at sea too.

This is how I play, and I really wish more people understood the game like this, we would far less of these posts and might actually come up with "proper" suggestions

  • Thank you all for proving that sea of thieves has worsened. I hope you all have fun exploiting newer players and such just for the fun of killing them. And then bashing them when they complain the game is no longer fun. This post was set up to see if I wasn't the only person who had bad experiences but nope the community used it to make fun of players.

  • @lavashield
So we disagree with you, so that means the game has gotten worse?

You are wrong plain and simple. The seas were much more of a bloodbath at the start.

I sailed past a ship parked at an outpost i wanted to bank at the other day. Shot a few cannonballs before i see a message from the ship owner saying "hey im just tryin to learn the game". So i stopped, boarded his boat, and gave him all my cursed cannonballs before leaving. Im not even a legend yet and i let him live.

Go out and make a difference. Dont just cry about it

  • I've played this game a lot and I believe that this community is really nice overall. Of course, there are bad and toxic people sailing these seas as well, but you really shouldn't give up.

One good tip is to try to get some friendly people together, through for example one of the many communities/looking for group options there are (Discord etc.), and form a crew with.

  • @lavashield
    Found the "toxic guy"

  • Ok real quick let me get a few things straight. In the game I like to do PvP an so on. however its the toxic players who even when you sink they still target you. Calling you "g*y" or "stupid" before farming you. Scuttling makes them still target you. If i leave it feels the exact same in every lobby. The point is I feel there are more toxic players than helpful ones

  • @lavashield said in What happened to the game???:

So report them, block them and move on. Find another server. You will ALWAYS find toxic people on games like this, you just have to move on. Dont let them ruin the game for you. There are plenty of non toxic people out there who pvp and arent toxic.

  • @lavashield
You really wanna complain about what players say to you after what you said to me earlier?
    The irony is laughable

Then turn down ingame chat volume to 0. That's what I do, and suddenly all toxicity is gone. You can also block text chat for the rare occurrence of toxic chat(I don't see many people using text chat, and I don't see people bypassing the filter of those who use it)

No kidding. Most everyone here has responded with civility and some suggestions even when disagreeing, but the OP decides to do the very thing they claim is ruining the game for them. SMH

EDIT: At least they self-censored by deleting their post.

Hate to break it to you, and to Rare, but the game needs more rules. It's stifled into a niche game until that day.

December 23rd, 2018. First 5 seconds of logging in I was given a Chest of Legends.

Everyone has had a different experience and it will vary based on people you find.

Don't like what's going on? Leave.

Crew playing music on deck and eating bananas? Stay awhile and listen!

Wanna find a crew worthy of your greatness? Discord or start a Xbox party in the LFG.

Don't like current hit registration? Take a break from the game.

Human interaction. Make it what you want or leave the game and find another server.

You'll be salty if you wallow in anger about losing a virtual ship and virtual loot. There is plenty of loot to be found, taken, left behind and sunk to the bottom of the sea.

Good luck bro, hope you find calmer waters beyond the horizon.

    Signed,

    Legendary Merchant of Bone
