some other things to spend gold on

  • I am sure this topic has been covered before but as someone who has purchased nearly every cosmetic in the game and still has 3.6 million gold (and climbing) I would like to see more things to spend it on. Here are a few ideas my crew and I have discussed recently.

Supplies- How about letting us buy supplies for the ship with gold? Each ship vendor could sell x amount of cannon balls, boards, and low tier food per set amount of time. Not an absurd amount but enough to allow players with lots of gold who have already spent tons of hours playing to be able to jump into a ship and get going without spending the first 30 minutes looting barrels. This could also give a freshly spawned boat a better chance at defending itself against a fully stocked boat that attacks right after the new boat enters the game. This could possibly even be put into arena where a ship could travel to an outpost and spend silver to resupply if they find themselves empty in the middle of a match.

row boats- Same as above. just purchase a rowboat from the ship vendor when you don't feel like hunting one down. It would be even better if the purchased rowboats could match the selected ship hull paint job.

ship repair/change ship size- Returning a ship to it's undamaged look at an outpost is something I personally would waste gold on. Being able to go to an outpost and change the ship size without loosing supplies or changing servers when a crew member has to leave or another wants to join would also be a nice QOL improvement imho. I know changing ship size might run up against problems with server population limits but it would be nice to see something like this worked out. This might only work if it was only possible to reduce ship size, or maybe an error message letting you know there are too many people on the server to increase ship size at that time.

Cursed cannon balls- Again not an absurd amount. Maybe 3-5 random curse balls available at each outpost per set amount of time. Similar to seapost vendors.

Empty chests- These have been a handy addition to the game. It would be nice to be able to purchase a few before leaving port for transporting the smaller items we find out on the seas.

I personally don't feel things like this stuff would add any real advantage. Just a way to reward successful pirates by allowing them to speed up some of the more tedious aspects of adventure mode. It would also mean more gold being spent so there is more reason to keep adventuring once you reach the realm of "pirate rich". I would love to hear peoples thoughts if there is something here that could be massively exploited and I am just not seeing it.

As for traditional gold sink items I personally would like to see some less flashy legend tier clothing and equipment.

All of these things but the cosmetic repair would though. Ship change because people without gold wouldn't be as versatile, and everything else is a direct advantage. The only things you can buy should be cosmetic. Maybe there could be cosmetics you could buy(marked specially of course) that disappear when you die or when your ship sinks

  • @BlazeDrake100 I didn't mean to imply that it would be so expensive only the richest pirates could afford these things just that newer pirates probably would not be spending on ship consumables as often as a long time player. Also I am talking very minimal amounts available. Like maybe doubling the ships base supply for a reasonable amount of gold that pretty much anyone could afford. I suppose this could put a day one player with zero gold at a slight time disadvantage on how long it takes to loot an outpost but I don't see it being something game changing as you typically have as much time as you need to loot an outpost, wait for it to respawn, loot it again and so on. Mostly just a way to improve the flow a bit and make gold feel like its actually worth something when you have more than you can spend. I also don't think allowing someone to purchase 3-5 curse balls an hour or per session so they don't have to run around looting barrels as long when starting out for the day is a big deal either but i can see how it would be a little closer to the line they don't want to cross. I don't see how empty chests and rowboats would be a problem. I have always thought it kind of silly that a fresh boat doesn't come with a rowboat attached anyway. I guess this depends on how you look at it. I personally would say selling an advantage to someone is selling them something that is only available for gold. Every item I named is available to every player for free if they don't want to spend.

  • I totally agree with this.
I'm not yet a high level player. But I keep wondering what I would do with my money once I'm a pirate legend. I dont mind to spend it on cosmetics, but we need more cosmetics to spend gold on. Not just saild, hull, weapons and stuff.

Maybe other things, like a portrait of yourself to put in the ship, in the captains quarters, some lamps, personalize the harpoon, itens to decorate the masts, or at least something else.

The idea of buying supplies, limited per hour or so, is great.
I think the game currency should have more purpouse. Once I buy a set of cosmetics I like, I dont see much more purpouse for gold. Surely the game has other things to accomplish, like the commendations, but the gold man.... we need the gold.... pirates like gold.... and by that we mean having gold to spend on useless things, like rum, ladies and maybe some gambling? Other activities, anything else would be fine.

  • Just found this today and i 100% agree. I already have all the cosmetics i would want (other than like maybe 2 for the ship) and my highest level is 44 and i already have more gold than i know what to do with. Would definitely like ship upgrades, even if cosmetic, like an enclosed cabin for the swoop maybe? Always liked that the galleon had a captains quarters for me to organize my loot and put on shelves and stuff. Cant do that on a swoop cuz everyone withing a quadrant will see the shine....
