How I wasted two weeks of my life - Some suggestions for the game

  • I spent the last 2 weeks to come up with some cool ideas that should work for the Adventure Mode.
I've also spent some days to translate all in english but, i think that i killed the language several times with my poor skill, so i really apologize for this.
I tryed to do a schematic topic divided by paragraphs full of "rules" that, i hope, can trasform the idea in something doable.
Finally I want to point out that all the following things are only suggestions, from a person who loves the game and sees the insane potential it has.

    New mechanics and features

    1. Private messages to send by traveling bird or similar things
The possibility to write messages from the captain's cabin and send them following these options:
-send the message to the nearest ship (within a defined radius)
-send the message to all the ships (within a defined radius)
-send the message to the nearest allied ship (across the world)
-send the message to all allied ships (across the world)

    2. A showcase in each tavern that shows all the requests for aid of a player (or a crew of players).
When you get a Tall Tales mission you can ask for help by paying a certain amount at your choice.
The player/players who accept the request from the showcase at the tavern will form an alliance with the asking crew and they will share the same mission.
At the end of the mission the helping players will be rewarded automatically with the previously chosen amount.

    3. The Legendary Kraken's Hunt
In each tavern will be possible to propose an "Legendary Kraken's Hunt" mission.
Once the mission is proposed by any player of the server a countdown of 20 minutes will start to let other players sign the mission by consulting the showcase at any tavern.
Once the countdown is finished or reached the number of 4 party signed in total, all the partecipants ships will join an alliance and they will share the same mission.
The Kraken will spawn in a portion of sea of the shores of gold, so it will be necessary to find first a Shroudbreaker for your own ship to pass through the red sea.
The Shroudbreaker can be obtained by solving an enigma (like the Tall Tales) in 1 of the 4 island assigned for the mission (in fact ther will be 4 Shroudbreaker).
Once a crew obtains a Shroudbreaker it will be equipped to the ship automatically.
The 4 Shroudbreaker are different from eachother, eachone with a specific effect:
      -the red one will make the Kraken more vulnerable to cannonballs;
      -the blue one decreases the total HP of each Kraken's tentacle;
      -the yellow one increases the possibility of dropping a piece of meat from a tentacle to 70%;
-the green one will prevent the equipped ship to be crushed by the Kraken's grip move.
When a ship sink his crew cannot continue the mission because, by respawing, the Shroudbreaker will be lost, so the possibility to pass the red sea.
When a ship sink the effect of the equipped Shroudbreaker will vanish (in the case of the blue one the Kraken will fully restore his HP).
The Kraken spawn after 5 minutes a ship reaches the sea of the shores of gold.
The maximum duration of the fight is 30 minutes, after wich the Kraken will disappear.
If the Kraken is defeated before the set time he will drop a unique treasure (like his eye or something similar), that can be selled at the emporium to complete the mission (so only 1 crew will complete the mission).
If the Kraken disappears after the the set time none will complete the mission and it will expire.
This special Kraken has an AI that allows him to fight all the ships that enter his radius at the same time.
To destroy a tentacle it will take 20 cannonballs (15 if the ship with the red OR the blue shroudbreaker is in the area, 10 cannonballs if there are both the red one and the blue one).
Each tentacle has 40% of probability to drop a piece of meat, otherwise no drop boyz.
Once destroyed a total of 20 tentacles (no matter how many tentacle a single ship destroys) the Kraken is defeated.
If a player who carries in his inventory X amount of Kraken's meat dies, he will drop 1 piece of meat.
...Did I say Kraken yet? KRAKEN.

    4. The Great Treasure Hunt
Each 6 hours in any server (4 times each day) there will be generated and scattered around the world 30 parts of the same map.
The players have to find them and put in the showcase of an outpost (all the outposts will share the same map) to compose gradually the whole map and find the treasure (40k at least).
In the showcase there will be from the beginning the map part with the cross in it, that is the exact point of the treasure.
The map parts can be found on the islands totally random, but they emit from the distance an intense and special light so that players can find them much easier.
It is not necessary to complete the map to find and dig the treasure, because this is placed in ground at the beginnning of the 6 hours.
At the end of the expiration time (6 hours) the map will vanish from the showcase and a new map and treasure will be generated.

    5. The System of Bounties and Wanted players
Introduction of a global leaderboard of Most Wanted players on the Sea Of Thieves website, to introduce an end game goal for everyone: be the most famous pirate of all time! (and special skins as always)
In every tavern's showcase there will be posters of the players who are logged in the server at that moment, with this formula: "Wanted Dead or Alive the GradeX PlayerX".
The posters will be different depending on the player's bounty grade: "Outlaw" from 1.000 (all players start with this bounty) to 9.999, "Corsair" from 10.000 to 49.999, "Cursed Captain" from 50.000 to 99.999, "Cursed Admiral" from 100.000 to 499.999, "Seas Terror" from 500.000 to 999.999, "Pirates Ruler" from 1 milion and on.

    Capture of a Wanted player
To capture a Wanted player we need first a special tool, the "Chest of Souls", that is delivered from a new NPC called "the jailer", in the Athena's Fortune Hideout, by accepting his mission (we can only have 1 chest of souls at a time).
When a player is killed by another near the chest, it will capture his soul, then a global message will appear: "PlayerX's soul has been captured!"
The "captured" player will continue to play freely after the respawn, because the capture doesn't imply anything on the gameplay aspect (thanks to the souls ploy).
When the chest captures a soul his position will be visible from the on-board map of any ship in the server.
Quitting the server is useless because the chest of souls will contain the ID of the captured player.
The chest has to be brought to the Jailer to complete the mission and to recieve an increase of our bounty, moreover the bounty of the captured player will decrease by a certain amount.
The Jailer will also give us the amount of the bounty but only if it's lower than 50.000 (to be divided for the crew's members), in other cases he will say he doesn't have money "at that moment".
The mission delivered by the Jailer cannot be canceled and it will disappear only by completing it, delivering the chest full back to the Jailer (this way there will be few chest of souls around the world at a time).
The fact that the captured player's bounty will decrease is important to prevent players to abuse the mechanics and grind their bounty without effort).

    Ways to increase our bounty:
-by playing the Arena mode: +200 for the winning team, +100 for 2°, +50 for 3°
-by conquering islands with an alliance: consult paragraph 8
-by selling the fortress treasures: +20 each one
-by selling the 2 skeleton ship special treasures: +10 each one

+1000 if the captured player is a Cursed Admiral
+4000 if the captured player is a Seas Terror

    How our bounty will decrease:
-by letting someone deliver the chest with our soul: -50 if we are Outlaw
    -100 if we are Corsair
-250 if we are Cursed Captain
-500 if we are Cursed Admiral
-2500 if we are Seas Terror
-5000 if we are Pirates Ruler

-by getting imprisoned during the Death Isle Voyage: -50 if we are Outlaw (info at paragraph 6)
    -100 if we are Corsair
-250 if we are Cursed Captain
-500 if we are Cursed Admiral
-2500 if we are Seas Terror
-5000 if we are Pirates Ruler

    1. The Death Isle Voyage
A Ghost ship driven by the Ferryman appears at sunset at the Galleon's Grave Outpost.
Every player on the server can get on board but by doing it he will lose his human form to become a ghost (this will prevent players to kill eachother during the voyage).
After few minutes (but before the sunrise) the ship sails toward an unknown destination to the East.
The Ghost ship must be undistructable and unsinkable for the success of the voyage (so that other ships can't destroy it).
Anyone who falls or abandons the ship will lose an emblem (explained later); after loosing all the emblems the player will return to his own ship (failing the mission).
The ship will always follow a specific route, sailing through the red sea and then reaching a spooky island.
The ship will continue to sail towards East and finally it will disappear at horizon.
In the island players (still in ghost form) will find a dense fog (like the Ferry of the Damned).
The purpose of the mission is to free the souls of captured pirates in the island (the souls will be inside chests and they will be 20 in total), then to escape the island by recovering our human form and taking 1of the 2 anchored galleons on the island.
To set free the souls, players must first defeat a giant skeleton boss called "Prison Warden".
The Prison Warden has the size of a galleon, a cannon instead of his right arm and he throws gunpowder barrels with his left hand.
The Death Island is characterized in the middle by a big arena in which there will be the Prison Warden; on the arena's sides there are two towers with an anchor in eachone; the two anchors will open (and close) a gate set in front of the monster.
Behind the gate there are 3 cannons which aim against the monster (cannonballs will do significant damage to him) and a bunch of barrels filled with supplies.
The fight will begin once players enter the arena, then the intense fog will surround it (an invisible wall) to prevent players from escaping the fight.
Once the fight begins players return in human form by the power of a big flaming lantern set near the boss (players can now kill eachother again).
The fight has 2 phases that alternate over and over after a few minutes:
-1° phase: the arena will be invaded by skeletons and the Warden will try to shoot players with his cannon (preferring to shoot at towers if a player will be there); sometimes he will spawn a gunpowder barrel in his left hand throwing it on the ground (the impact zone will be colored in red)
-2° phase: this phase begin if players are able to shoot at the barrel while it's still in the left hand of the Warden, stunning him, or, after 4 minutes from phase 1 (same stun animation); in this phase skeletons will not spawn and players must climb the towers to rise the 2 anchors and open the gate in front of the monster, then shoot him with cannonballs as much as possible.
After 1 minute from phase 2 the Warden recovers from stun and phase 1 will start again (he will shoot first the players at the towers forcing them to drop the anchors and close the gate); all the players stuck behind the closed gate have to shoot theirselves out with cannons.
It will take 40 cannonballs to kill the Prison Warden (gunpowder barrels will not damage him but they'll only stun him).
At the beginning of the Death Isle Voyage two emblems will be given to every player; each time a player dies during the fight he will lose an emblem from his inventory and once the player has no more emblem to respawn he will return to his ship (failing the mission and his bounty's points).
When a player dies he respawns in place after a few seconds if he has at least 1 emblem.
Every time a player is "eliminated" completely he will drop an emblem that another player can pick up and use as an "extra life".
Once defeated the Prison Warden the vault, that contains all the chests witch pirates souls, will open; players have to gather how many chests they can and bring them to Thieves' Haven to free the souls and complete the mission.
Once the Prison Warden is defeated the big flaming lantern will extinguish causing players to become ghosts again; to regain their humanity players have to sacrifice to the lantern one emblem from their inventory (if they still have at least one).
The players who regain their humanity can leave the island with sailing with one of the two galleons (with Shroubreaker) anchored in the island, the others will be "imprisoned" by the intense fog after 10 minutes from the end of the bossfight (they will respawn on their ships loosing some bounty's points).
Bounty's points will be preventely deducted at the beginning of the mission, to prevent players from quitting the server once they see theirselves lost (who escapes the island will have back his points).
Mermaids will not spawn near the Death Isle, so players cannot use them to escape the fog.
The mission is completed by all the players who survive the fog (after 10 minutes from the bossfight).

    2. New sea's dangers

    The Hydra
He only spawns casually during storms, he's a dragon with 5 heads that emerge from the sea and share the same body, and a long tail under the sea.
The long heads have similar proportion to the Kraken's tantacles.
During the fight the Hydra will keep distance from the target ship trying to throw his attacks, sometimes he will approach fast the ship to bite it 5 times, alternating his heads at each bite.
Each head have a specific function: the first and the fifth head throw flaming rocks; the second and the forth throw a jet of incadescent steam that damage all the uncovered players; the third emits a roar that will cause a powerful lightning from the sky after a few seconds, players have to move the ship away from the impact area to prevent damage (it will make 5 holes to the ship).
To damage the Hydra players have to aim precisely at his heads (not his long and armored necks) that will be destroyed after a certain amount of cannonballs (20 with the galleon, 15 with the brigadine, 10 with the sloop).
If a head is destroyed the Hydra will lose the related ability ( example: if he lose the third head he cannot thow lightnings anymore, etc.. etc...).
When the Hydra approach the ship to bite it, players can prevent him from doing it by shoot with their gun at the attacking head.
Each head will drop a number of dragon scales that goes from 1 to 3.
After destroing all the heads the Hydra is defeated.
Once he spawns the Hydra will always follow the storm and never get out of it, so if the ship escapes the storm it will escape the Hydra as well.
The Hydra will despawn after a few minutes if none enters the storm in the meanwhile.

    The Lost Crew
A ghost ship that spawns random in the middle of the fog.
The ship doesn't follow a normal physics and it is unsinkable, the hull is ethereal and slides over the sea and can pass through any obstacle.
On board there are 9 ghosts (8 at the cannons and the helmsman), which can be killed only by lighting them with the big lantern at the top of the ghost ship's mast.
To reach the lantern players have to shoot themselves with cannons and grab the ladder of the mast (wich is the only physical thing on the ship).
After the lantern is lighted up by a player, there will be a light explosion that kills 3 ghost on the ship.
After the explosion the ship will disappear for a few seconds (forcing the player out of the mast), to appear again in a different location, ready to fire at our ship.
The lantern process must be done 3 times to kill all the ghosts and sink the ghost ship.
The ghost ship will never pass the fog zone, and it will despawn (without dropping any loot) after the fog is over.
If players manage to destroy the ship, it will drop from 4 to 9 skulls, that can be selled to increase their bounty and for some gold.

    1. Alliance system to conquer the sea
A new way to take the most of the alliance system is this:
Use the beacons present already in some islands to create a real race of conquest by alliances in every server.
When 2 or more ships are allied, they can "conquer" the islands with the beacon by lighting it up with their lanterns.
When an alliance is formed, it will automatically have a lantern color associated.
If there are no alliances in the server, the first alliance will have the color red associated, so every beacon lighted up by the players of that alliance will be red.
If there is already an alliance, the second will have the color blu, green for the third, purple for the fourth.
Moreover a small icon of the alliance flag will appear on every conquered island on the on board map.
The players of an alliance will recieve bounty points every time that an island remains conquered for 30 minutes straight.
The players without an alliance cannot conquer any island.
At the moment a server has a capacity of 6 ships, so the maximum number of alliances present at the same time is 3. (am i wrong?)
An alliance cannot have more the 4 ships in it.
The bounty's points earned by players depend on the number of ships in the alliance: +30 points for each conquered island if the alliance has 2 ships, +20 if it has 3 ships, +10 if it has 4 ships.
To let this new mechanics work at its best, the servers should contain 8 ships (for a maximum of 32 players).

(8 ships for server would be the ideal also for the other mechanics explained previously in this topic)

Finally I suggest to introduce all the features contained in the paragraphs following this order: 5-1-2-4-8-3-7-6

In conclusion I want to thank all those who have read this topic to the end and the development team for continuing to bring new life on this awesome game.

    That's all folks!
