Weapon & Shot Variety

  • Weapons & Shot: A Pirate's weapon says alot about the kind of pirate they are! Most if not all of the following are accurate to what pirates actually used.
    New Types of Cannon shot:

-Ball and Chain: 2 Cannonballs with a chain between them, ideal for taking out masts. Shorter range due to additional weight.
-Bundle Shot: An anti-personnel shot, Metal rods held together by rope and cloth. Creates a short-range blast damaging crew in a wide radius. No hull damage.
-Grape shot: A shotgun equivalent for cannons. Deals light hull damage over a wide area.

    Melee Weapons

-Boarding Axe: A slower swinging weapon that deals heavy damage and knockback, lacks a block but secondary action instead swings the axe overhead latching onto the hull of ships. Players can use this to climb the sides of hulls for boarding.
-Rapier: A more elegant weapon for more civilized pirates, lacking somewhat in offensive abilities but shines defensively with its parry ability. Timed right it can open up an enemy for a devastating counter thrust. Enters a fancy fencing stance when wielded.
-Bludgeon: A hefty one-handed club that deals less damage than a Cutlass but has decent knockback with each hit. Has a more efficent block and its power attack is a short-range uppercut that send enemies back & upward. Ideal for defense against boarders.
-Pike: A weapon for keeping space between you and an enemy. Standard attacks rapidly jab in front of you, Power attack does a long thrust forward (longer than standard sword lunge) and Secondary attack holds the pike out in front of you at range, doing light damage and knockback to those who hit it and heavy damage against those who sprint or lunge into it.

    Ranged Weapons:

-Musketoon: A shorter musket lacking a scope designed for short to mid range, with damage and reload speed falling between the Flintlock and Eye or Reach.
-Multi-Barrel Pistol: A pistol with 3 barrels, each shot can be fired rapidly but each shot does significantly less damage compared to flintlock, at around %25 health per shot with the final shot dealing extra damage if each of the previous shots hit.
-Volley Pistol: A pistol with 4 barrels that fire simultaneously, dealing the damage of a blunderbuss but at a further range. Its heft makes it hard to aim and several barrels make it the slowest reloading firearm.
-Crossbow: While somewhat unconventional on the high seas, it is an excellent weapon on land being virtually silent and dealing the same amount of damage as the eye of reach but with a longer reload time. I wouldnt mind a "rope & reel" feature for it too.
Blowgun: A primitive but effective weapon, shoots a sedative dart that deals no damage but causes the player (or animal?) to enter the sleep emote as well as have the 'Venom' effect on their screen. This ends instantly if attacked. A thieves weapon.

Consumable Weapons: A new storage space on the ship, The Weapon Rack now holds a certain amount of each consumable weapon. Consumable Weapons are held in the hand like trinkets or skulls. And are found randomly on islands, forts, shipwrecks, and skeleton ships.

-Throwing Spear: A thrown spear, dealing hefty damage but double against animals and monsters. Rack holds 12 Spears.
-Grenades: A timed fuse explosive that can be thrown a decent range, it deals %60 health at center of explosion with a short radius and high knockback. Damage to ship and hull is minimal, creating only small holes and requiring a direct hit to Wheel or capstan to damage pegs. Rack holds 3.
-Portable cannon: A single shot handheld cannon, throws the user back with high recoil. Rare to find, Rack holds 1.
-Throwing Net: A rope net that when thrown immobilizes enemies. More effective on players in the water or sharks. Rack holds 6.

  • I feel like this is a repeat thread that I've seen once upon a time before, and I don't mean in terms of the subject matter, but rather, as in word-for-word.... weird. 🤨
