STOP Skeleton Ships from crashing into player ships

  • Here we go again

Happened just now. I was minding my own business fishing at an inactive fortress, had already caught over 40 pondies, and all the sudden I hear my ship being attacked.

It wasn’t a player unfortunately, but a skeleton ship that decided to crash into my sloop and start a fight. I was very close to land, so I don’t know why the Ghost Ship decided to get that close.

Because a brig decided to pick on me cuz I passed by and I was already close to sinking, the instant the Ghost Ship was down they came for me and started attacking me and one boarded me and killed me, so I scuttled then left the server (after already leaving 4 other servers because of PvP incidents), losing all the fish I got.

Can we not have ghost ships crash into players please? This has happened to me twice. The first time being because the Ghost Ship suddenly changed course and crashed into me at the last second before I could turn out of the way.

It’s your own fault lol you should’ve payed attention

I wasn’t paying too close attention because I didn’t care too much if a player ship decided to attack me, since I had a keg trap ready (thanks inactive fort for providing the kegs). But I was checking frequently anyhow, to make sure I wasn’t completely taken by surprise. If I saw a ship, I wouldn’t care since they would’ve been blown up, at least they’d go down with me. I knew there was a ghost ship stuck on an island not too far from the fortress but rarely do they escape. EDIT: To clarify I was going to shoot a keg to start the trap, forgot to mention

Lol you’re just bad don’t complain!

I know I am but I doubt I’m the only one to have had a ghost ship crash into them when they wanted to just not have a fight.

Ghost Ships are so easy to sink, you only made mistakes so that’s why you failed

Yeah I was about to have it handled until the brig passing by decided to put a bunch of holes on the other side of my ship, causing the ship to fill up faster. I’ve learned not to panic if there’s two or three holes on one side of the ship, but I do when they’re on both. I was almost in permanent bail mode. Managed to patch up enough and bail enough to head back above deck to fight.
Managed to sink the skeleton ship by using a peaceball, ballastball and hitting it a few times before dropping anchor and rushing down to finish repairs. I know not ideal to drop anchor but I was about to head for an island and I didn’t want to crash and make more holes. Besides I heard my boat creaking so I was close to sinking already.

    Dont complain about PvP AGAIN!

I’m complaining not just solely cuz of the PvP issue, but because of the PvP issue that the ghost ship ended up having me steer into (my own fault yes for heading towards the brig in the first place but I was unable to steer at all thanks to the helmball, so not my fault I couldn’t turn the instant I saw them). I couldn’t raise anchor when they caught up to me (after the ghost ship sank) so I tried fighting back by getting a wearyball ready but the two shooting at me had lowered my health considerably, and then the third came on-board without me knowing and killed me. Simple as that.

There’s nothing wrong with ghost ships, stop asking the game to change because you made bad decisions and got unlucky

It WAS rather unfortunate, but mind you, it wouldn’t have happened if that ghost ship didn’t crash into me in the first place.

  • The ships move between nodes on the map and stop at set places around an island for a minute or two before moving onto the next node. If your ship gets in the way they will run into you and take that as aggression and start attacking.

This is intended behavior; the solution is to not run into them or move out of the way if one is approaching.

  • So you were not paying attention to your surroundings and got crashed into? And now u wanna nerf the skellys crashing into players?
    Are you serious?

Haha let's keep it chill matey! I know some likes it but please I wouldn't like another thread of "this".
The best way to make a thread not relevant is to not comment on it. It will vanish soon enough.

  • This is a pretty rare occurrence. I can understand why one might be frustrated by such an experience, but is it really reason to request a change? I think it's great that skellie ships are so wacky at times, especially since they no longer spawn directly against ships. This is good stuff. Honestly, @Agent-Samuraii, some of your encounters would make great "Tavern Tales." You're a writer, why not write about your experiences in a way people might enjoy? I'd read them. I don't think every bad experience requires a change to the game. Do you?

  • @d3adst1ck

I know they move back and forth between destinations. But I was stationary.

Another thing to add to the thread so people don’t repeat themselves.

  • @genuine-heather

Not a change a suggestion =_= please learn the difference. It’s happened to me twice where I’ve been run into and genuinely it can cause issues.

That’s why I have it as a question, not a statement or demand.

  • @agent-samuraii ditch your ship and go with a rowboat. You're practically invisible. You can hang out at a fort all day and no one will know you're there unless they pull up and find you standing there.

  • @agent-samuraii Did you call the number on the “How’s My Sailing?” plaque that can be found in every Skalleon Captain’s quarters?

That doesn't matter - you were in the path they were taking to get to their next stop point. That's how the ships work. If you see one approaching, just move out of the way if you think you're going to get hit.

  • @d3adst1ck

Dude I was stationary and since they don’t have sounds for ships coming on the water I was completely oblivious.

It does matter. Cuz I was close to land. And it crashed into me despite me being right close to land.

  • @nwo-azcrack

Read my friend. I was checking my surroundings often enough and I had a keg trap laid out.

I wasn’t paying attention at that point in time cuz there was nobody out on the horizons and I was fishing.

The skeleton ship shouldn’t have hit me anyways. Why did it do it then? Why doesn’t it do that when people are docked at an outpost? Why doesn’t it do it when people are parked at islands? Literally they stop and watch you before leaving, not run directly into you.

  • @testakleze

Well.... kinda hard to fish once your food slot is full, and your ship isn’t nearby....

  • @agent-samuraii Pay attention? Your ship will get attacked even if you're close to land if the skeleton ship runs into you as they are completely oblivious to players until something triggers their aggressive mode.

  • @agent-samuraii

Well.... kinda hard to fish once your food slot is full, and your ship isn’t nearby....

You do realize that the rowboat has storage slots though right?

  • @d3adst1ck

Um, I stopped paying attention after a while? Because I saw no ships? And I was in the middle of a catch?

Normally I’d check once I felt someone was there, or when I was full up. But I was oblivious after a bit.

It is a problem. If they don’t crash into you when parked elsewhere why crash into you at a fortress? Are the islands that small that it doesn’t register that there’s land?

Like I’ve noticed this. They tend to crash into smaller islands, ones that are like really small. And they tend to just,, run into it. Including rock formations too.

  • @nabberwar

    ???????

Okay I was never aware of this??? Okay I’m probably just stupid but I’ve never seen any storage slots or even prompts for storage slots!!

OML how did I not know that?? THANK YOU!!!

  • @genuine-heather

Also, I have posted a story or two but they never seemed to be of much interest to anyone. No upvotes or comments or anything. So yknow.

  • @agent-samuraii

Dude I was stationary and since they don’t have sounds for ships coming on the water I was completely oblivious.

They are giant and glow in the day and dark.....

Read my friend. I was checking my surroundings often enough...

I wasn’t paying attention at that point...

These are two conflicting statements, either you are paying attention or you are not.

The skeleton ship shouldn’t have hit me anyways. Why did it do it then?

Think of it as a train track, and there you were on the tracks.

Why doesn’t it do that when people are docked at an outpost?

It isn't on the path that the track would take.

Why doesn’t it do it when people are parked at islands? Literally they stop and watch you before leaving, not run directly into you.

Those situations didn't have the players on the track like you were on this situation. Frankly, all this could have been avoided had you just payed attention and moved the ship. Ships take time to traverse the sea, a simple 360 degree pan every couple minutes solves this.

  • @nabberwar

    “At that point in time”.

That’s not making the statement conflicting.

The title of your post is: "STOP Skeleton Ships from crashing into player ships." There's no ambiguity about what you want here, so it's foolish to argue semantics. Why do you go on the defensive every time someone offers an opinion?

I've had skellie ships run into me too. It's a thing that can happen in the game. It's rare, but it happens. It's not a bug. It's fine.

Regarding posting stories, a lot of people read them but don't respond because, well, they're stories. They don't really demand feedback. I've posted a few, myself, and they usually get a few upvotes but not many responses. I know people appreciate them, though, so don't let that deter you. I'd much rather read a good tale than the endless bickering in some of these threads. This game is all about the stories!

  • @agent-samuraii

    “At that point in time”.

That’s not making the statement conflicting.

Yes, yes it does. You were paying attention, then you stopped. That implies you weren't paying attention after you stopped.

Dude I was stationary and since they don’t have sounds for ships coming on the water I was completely oblivious.

Oblivious - not aware of or not concerned about what is happening around one.

Its quite clear you weren't paying attention, when you yourself admit to being oblivious. Your new mate, its fine to make mistakes. Just learn from them. I myself have been caught off guard as well by a ship. It no longer happens to me because I've adjusted my style of play to ensure it doesn't.

  • @agent-samuraii

It won’t help you because knowing doesn’t necessarily give you an advantage but, these are not assets running on sophisticated code. They simply trawl back and forth until they contact something, they’re fired upon or they de-spawn. You were unlucky in your choice of parking zone.

I’ve seen 2 collide and get entangled. I’ve also seen one beached well out of the water (this one de-spawned). They’re Artificial but not very Intelligent 🙂

  • @agent-samuraii
I did read. You were not paying attention.
Skelly ships crash into ships all the time. Even at outposts. Doesnt matter where u are.
Are you gonna ask them to change the game everytime you die?
Cause im starting to see a pattern here. Where u die, say its not your fault, then come here and act like the game is broken and ask for unnessesary changes.

  • @dadiodude
I mean, they were randomly given ships by Wanda, and they've been dead for a long timd. It's not surprising they're bad sailors with the lore.

  • Which fort was it? Ive noticed they tend to run into certain islands and rocks. I found one despawned on CannoN Cove, Lone Cove and one of the forts (just in one play session. )One of the rocks south of Galleon's Grave is a spot I've noticed they crash into too. I bet you just got caught in one of their usual crash spots. This is something that could be looked into, not necessarily a "git gud" situation 🤷🏽‍♀️🧜‍♀️

  • @nwo-azcrack

Never said it wasn’t my fault. At all. Do quote me if I’m wrong. Literally, find where I said, specifically, “it wasn’t my fault” and respond with the quote.

It’s my fault that I didn’t pay attention but why should Skeleton ships hit you when you’re minding your own business?

Dude lay off and find someone else to bother please I’m sick of this cycle.

  • @pithyrumble

Crow’s Nest Fortress, that’s where I fish for pondies.

  • Skull fort loot is so delayed it took about 30 mins for me to get gold please fix

  • @genuine-heather

You’re nitpicking the title just so you can continue a fight.

There’s a question in the thread don’t ignore it.

  • @dadiodude

    True that!

  • @nabberwar

    “At that point in time”

Meaning I stopped, INDICATING that at that point in time I stopped paying attention, whereas BEFORE that point in time I was checking as much as I could. But then I stopped cuz I felt safe enough.

  • @the-duty-callss

!! I’m not the only one to experience this?? It was happening all day today

  • @agent-samuraii nvm, I was at keelhaul lol. I had to go check the map. The hitbox for the rowboat's storage is very tiny, super easy to miss. If you have trouble finding it look at the button prompt for that very back seat, then off to one side slowly.
