There was an x-box achievement "How Appropriate! You Fight Like A Chicken" I guess that may be the biggest, safest acknowledgement they could make. Still made me smile when it popped up on screen, even if they had to change "Cow" for "Chicken"

@amancebacabras I personally would like the Sea Monkey, with a half sunk look and constand small leaks. For the pirate who wants a challenge (or is desperate) only.

I could see this guy stood in one of the shipwright buildings for a special Monkey Island celebration weekend selling the "Limited Edition" items.

"Meleê Island" from "Monkey Island" exists, in real life, in Germany...
Perhaps they could get around copyright by just saying they were basing a place design around the town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber

Shame, I was reading the other day that Tim Schafer, who was partly responsible for Monkey Island now works for Microsoft since his business Double Fine Productions was bought by them.
Would have been nice to have shoehorned a few Monkey Island references into the game

@bugaboo-bill I always think of the bone deep, comeback hours after the first insult is slung. I'd walk around saying "I am rubber, you are glue" and then hours later think damn!!!! I should've said "Even BEFORE they smell your breath?"

I'll be honest with you, Naughty Dog already used Guybrush Threepwood in uncharted 3 and a three headed monkey can be from anywhere (and I doubt anyone at Disney actually knows they own the IP :-P

I remember that disc!
It took me forever to find the Ipecac Flower. Think it was by the swamp. They used to provide a helpline you could call for solutions. Think I had to make a call on that one.
I think I may have to purchase the Monkey Island series again. I need the Largo Embargo in my life

@bugaboo-bill I do! The imner prtion with the lower half of the faces on it went missing on mine (much like in your picture). I had an amazing friend who used his as a guide to hand make me a new one so I could still play.

@hynieth uncharted was released a few years before Lucasfilm was sold to the corporation we shall not name. Also while you are probably correct that you can get away with things like a three headed monkey that dosen't mean anyone wants to risk it. And I assure you that Disney (whoops) has someone keepimg track of every single property they own, considering they have a policy of never letting a property go once they gave their claws in ot, no matter if they never have or never do plan on doing anything with it. And now that a judge has denied their newest attempt to extend the length of a copyright they will be out for blood.

Or maybe my distate for them is clouding my judgement. That is distinctly possible.

@bugaboo-bill I remember Wing Commander had several fighter bluprints with specs, and a dossier of pilots in the manual that it could ask questions from. Good luck copying all that.

I think the best copy protection I have seen wasn't even intended that way: you could just boot up Silent Service 2, but it had so many commands tou had to put a keyboard map over your keyboard...not an easy thing to copy.
