Macroing to prevent afk kick

  • So this has been left kinda unclear atleast for me.
Is using a macro that does random inputs to prevet getting kicked for afk allowed?

It's annoying to find people randomly run around, swap items, fire gums etc. with a macro in the arena. I assume it's not allowed, because you're bypassing a system that prevents you from gaining gold and reputation without actually playing, but some people still say, that it is allowed.
Macroing is not really clearly adressed in the ToS either.
Atleast it's pretty unfair advantage for people who do it.

As such, accounts can be terminated if found to be doing it.

  • @randomii666 A bit overkill, just putting something on the keyboard holding down a button is enough to avoid AFK kick in this game. It sucks that people abuse it though.

    That isn't macroing though.

Not saying it's cool, but yeah

Not anymore...when just afk you get lazybearded
Now when you just twist, just jump or whatever, you get sleepybearded

  • @randomii666 I mean honestly it's annoying to have an afk ship in arena as they don't Contribute to the fight but at the same time someone going afk for gold and level 50 isn't a big deal you'll know if someone went afk most of their arena time when they say they are level 50 and can't hit the broad side of a barn with cannons and can't kill a player.

That's too bad. Once in a while I do need to step away for a few minutes, I guess I'll have to use a macro next time then. This is why we can't have nice things...

You will not be kicked for being away for a few minutes. The system allows for plenty of time to take a bio-break, smoke, or fix a snack. The problem is that some players leave their crew short-handed while they bathe the kids, cook dinner for the family, cut the grass, walk the dog, take long calls, or the like. What may seem like just “a few minutes” to the person attending to real life, can be half a match or more in Arena.

If that's what it takes, sure. This is a game I play for hours in one sitting and since things happen outside the computer sometimes I have to step away and I don't want to stress about the AFK timer while I do. As long as I'm either playing solo or have the crew's understanding and permission to do so I don't see why you'd have an issue with that. It's just too bad we have people abusing it and ruining it for the rest of us, which is exactly why we can't have nice things.
