Tall Tales - Where to start without using a guide?

  • I'm loving the Tall Tale series but I'm curious how people are supposed to know where to start each Tall Tale without using a guide or someone else's knowledge ?

Am I missing something in the preceding Tale that tells you where to go for the next one?

It feels like you're supposed to just find the start of each tale by chance and not just go to the Mysterious Stranger.

Anyway, I think I'm missing something somewhere.

    Cheers.

  • @yourenowontv After completing The Shroudbreaker Tale (#1), the Order of Souls lady lists people and hints. Also if you hover over the Tales in the reputation menu and press Y on Xbox or 2 (?) on PC it should give you some info on where to go and who to talk to, to start things off.

  • They definitely don't hold the player's hand, but they do give you the information.
After doing the first tale, the mysterious stranger's finishing dialog does include telling you to go to Madame Olivia at Plunder Outpost.

Plus, as @triheadedmonkey monkey said, we can actually get that information from the Tall Tales menu screen. To be fair, I didn't notice that we could do that until someone else did. :D If you press the more info button/key on each tale, it tells you where to start that one (NPC and location).

  • @triheadedmonkey Wow ! I have never seen the "More info" option ! Amazing. Thank you :)

  • @pdt-mindstream I'm amazed that I missed it. I am glad there is a little helping hand in the menu system now :D

  • @yourenowontv Your not the only one, i just read it today on the forums over here aswell lol. (completed my 9 by googling) or writing down the npc/location mentioned at the end of the previous tale

  • @YoureNowOnTV @Nessiroj
Haha, yeah, hardly anybody seemed to notice it. I didn't either, until I heard someone point it out to someone else. Fortunately, I remembered all the things the NPCs had mentioned about other NPCs, knew where most of them were (partly because I had stumbled into Salty on a previous voyage), so I was fine even before I learned of that help.

It's one of those maddening things for a designer - they gave us what we needed, and they did it right, as far as I can see - we just didn't notice, haha. :D

  • I like to think of the Tall Tales as the new content that Pirate Legends have been requesting, for months. They are not for new players, as you need to know your way around the Sea of Thieves, to able to recognize clues hidden in the words and pictures in the Quest Books, and so on. If they are too hard, perhaps you are not ready for them. If you are a Pirate Legend and they are too hard, perhaps you are not the legend you thought you were.

  • @surveyorpete Not stating that they are to hard, loved them. Just missed the more info button, but as always google is your friend if you forgot to write down the hint when stopping for the evening, finished them all 9 (working on getting them 5 times done) and loving them.
