Why having to play the Tall Tales 5 times is a bad choice

  • Hello Everyone

I have been playing a lot of SoT recently with the anniversary update, mostly the tall tales trying to complete each 5 times. Upon the first completion, I had nothing but admiration for the team and what they accomplished, and I still do however I think forcing the player to play the same Tall Tale 5 times to get the cosmetic is a bad choice and here is why.

After playing each Tall Tale 5 times I've come to notice how similar they are, first of all during the first playthrough you might be blinded by there being some sort of story in SoT, but in every Tale, you are pretty much doing the same thing over and over again with some variation every time. In almost every Tall Tale with the exception being the Fate of the Morningstar Shores of Gold and the Shroudbreaker, you visit a bare minimum of two islands and are required to dig up 2 artifacts, Once you have done this over and over again it becomes so sluggish and boring that you never want to replay that tale (at least that's how I feel).

Another issue with the Tall Tales that I have noticed is the amount of sailing that needs to be done during a Tale, excluding the Shroudbreaker and the Fate of the Morningstar. I love sailing in SoT but when I am doing a Tale and I have to sail to the opposite end of the map and sail all the way back it can extend the time of a Tail to an unessacary amount, it is the most annoying thing having to sail for half an hour just to grab a single artifact, especially if you are completing the tale alone it is very very verrry boring.

Now this may be messy writing and all over the place, but I needed to do something as I was sailing trying to complete the Revenge of the Morning Star for the 4th time! anyways I hope you guys see my point, and if you don't lemme know how you feel.

  • 5 times is too much for sure

  • @dayneatolla I now have PTSD thanks to Tall Tale #3. I spent over eleven hours (in one session) completing the tale four more times.

Oh god... Tasha please, have mercy on me, don’t send me across the map and back... OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

Tasha is the embodiment of everything evil in this world.

  • @drbullhammer That is also true, my issue is if you look at the activities you are doing most of them are the same repetitive task just with a different riddle to go along with it.

  • @dayneatolla How about not doing it in one go instead spreading it over the course of a couple of month? How about doing it in addition to another voyage? How about not doing them alone?

The title should be: "Why having to play the Tall Tales 5 times within 2 weeks is a bad choice". But the thing is, you don't have to.
There is only one to blame for doing all of them 5 times within two weeks and that's you.

I'm not keen on repeating them either but (especially for open crews) there needs to be an incentive to do so or it will get pretty hard to convince crews a few weeks from now.

  • I cant finish a single tall tale :/

I lost interest after 10 min im just goofing around after 30 min i quit they all fishing doing slow boring riddle.. its not for me i freakin hate tall tales so boring.. i finished 5 by joining a crew who just finish one but i quit on like 10 early to make room for someone who likes fishing -.-
No loot no pirates no excitement nothing i think its absolutely boring voyages since mega update i prety much stopped playing adventure -.-

Some actually like it thats nice ill try to find arena crew i fit in but need 4 so thats not working with solo players most of the time got no captain its chaos. :(

  • there's too much sailing

So what I'm hearing is that you don't like playing this game

  • I would've been okay with replaying each Tall Tale five times if each time I'd complete one, I'd receive a new cosmetic as a reward.
I find the number of unlockable cosmetics lacking and I expected more complete sets instead of single items.
I don't care about the reward in gold, I have more than enough.
Now it's just another grind waiting to be speed ran.
