SUGGESTION Harpoon IronSights
Harpoons are very precise and difficult to aim. I have reverted to a dot on my tv to help with accuracy. I’d love to see an ironsight added to the Harpoon!
Because the harpoon travels in a direct line unlike the cannon balls that have an arch trajectory, The cannons don't have this issue, even without a crosshair, because the cannonball generally impacts right above the top of the cannon's barrel. The Harpoon "impacts" really far away from the top of the barrel, making it extremely difficult to aim accurately. Its more of a guessing game.
I had someone tell me “isn’t it cheating to put a dot on your tv?” my reply was How would me putting a dry erase dot on my tv be cheating? lol. Hipfire accuracy is garbage on weapons in Sea of Thieves anyway. and they sell the "hip-shot dot" suction cups for the same reason, lol. I only use it for precision harpoon shots. Works great btw!
If they don't add iron sights you WILL have people doing this anyway, and its undetectable if you wanted to call it cheating. I don't see a point in avoiding it when it is as easy as a dot on your screen.
Anyone else agree? Any other ideas or thoughts?
*SUGGESTION* Harpoon IronSights
Since when was living the pirate life about convenience?
What happened to your Red Baron ironsights?
I just completed an Arena session where my crew had dug up several chest, and left them on the beach for me to harpoon them onboard.
They were at the far reach of the harpoon, and with my bad eyes and potato PC graphics, an iron sight sure would have helped.
My crew ended up swimming the last ones over. But I'm glad I did not have such a convenient piece of engineering at the end of my fantasy pirate harpoon.
Especially when our firearms are so primitive.I'd prefer you put a laser dot on your screen.

@barnabas-seadog harpoon guns like this weren’t invented until around the middle of the 1800s (roughly 200 years after the golden age of piracy) so they wouldn’t have had them anyway. I don’t think adding a primitive iron sight is going to mess with the lore too much...
any basic sight would look "similar to ww2 sight" or whatever people may be comparing it too.
but its safe to say a pirate would be smart enough to sight in a weapon in some way, for instance some pistols and all snipers have a sight... its absolutely not an unrealistic idea.
