Map Table 2.0

  • Imagine having your entire voyage saved down on your map table. Not just the last couple miles. I would have screenshots of all my favorite voyages!

And With some of the Tall tails missions you are required to use the map table to navigate in a way we haven’t seen before. So I think a map table rework is needed to get the most experience out of it. Like

•each player has a different color when making marks on the map.

•let players have more control to make “lines” and not just circles.

    • for immersion I think it would be amazing if players used a magnifying glass on a giant map.

•or at least let us completely zoom out so that we can see our entire voyage!

This is something I’ve wanted to suggest for the longest time. The map table could look like those ”treasure hunt” board games by the end of your voyage

••I swear on the Pirate Lord that I’ll sail all around the entire Sea of Thieves to say “Thank You” in my trail!!••

  • @straw-hat-blake - I too would like a change, but the opposite of what you ask.

I'd like to see the ship removed from the map table so pirates have to learn how to navigate the world. This would also make sailing through fog & storms far more interesting.

We could have a ship marker which players can place on the map (like the circles) where they think they are or want to go. Maybe have different coloured ships to mark last known locations of other crews.

    Sounds pretty hard for freshmen.

  • I Know the map by heart now, so you could remove it without it bother me one bit.

  • @tartansnake as long as I can make tons of marks to plot and track my entire voyage. I would love this! I’ve officially mastered the constellations so navigating at night would be especially fun. The map table has so much potential!

  • Great ideas! I would also like to be able to zoom in just a little bit further. That way you can easily show your teammates where you want to / need to go on an island. Upvoted!

That would also be cool in it's very own way

  • I like both options - a map with some extra abilities would be nice, but I too would like to see a 'hard mode' option where the map is just a map, no ship tracking on it.

Pirates were not known for having GPS, after all. :P

  • @straw-hat-blake your idea sounds neat.

i dont have a problem with the map as is except that id like some kind of way to communicate things with alliance members maybe make a mark on your map that shows up on theirs too or something. some way to suggest meeting up when too far away to talk. you need help in a pvp fight or to take on a skull fort.

the snake mans idea is insane lol. i guess i could support the ability to make your map this way but not force it on others. would be very bad for newer or less hardcore players who don't own their own island in the sea of thieves haha.

  • @tartansnake I'd be ok with removing the ship from the table, only if storms didn't mess with my compass. In reality, the storm wouldn't throw off the magnetic poles, so the compass would continue to work.

A fair point. Though, since we are talking about "hard mode", it would be very challenging to get caught in a storm, and then have to figure out where you are all over again once you come out of it!

  • @tartansnake this is an amazing idea! And the pieces could be like the old school figurines. One for your ship, a couple for enemy ships and a few for destinations. They couple be on the side of the table, and placable when interacted with. Great for the saboteur as well!

  • @tartansnake well it will be fun , but many of us still using the unofficial app map companion, so I don’t see any benefit..

But mark the last ship you see in the map is a good idea to track the enemy’s/allies ships.

  • I will never give up the dream of taking a screenshot of my ENTIRE voyage on my map table. Unless I sink and lose all my progress haha. The Easter egg at the black wytch reminded me
