Ahoy maties!
Yes, its that time again... another amazing developer weekly update!
Yes, I know, I hear you... I have missed it too!
After a break to make way for Anniversary streams, we're back with a generously sized Developer Update! Joe has the latest on what's addressed in today's patch, the evolution of Arena and Adventure, the studios we've been working with and even the first faint whispers of E3 2019.
Talking points include;
- Anniversary Update - Generally went well and launched smoothly - Insider testing helpless a lot here.
- A lot of buzz on social media channels from tales to arena, fishing and harpoons.
Top feedback points:
- Tall tales: Some tales aren’t triggering correctly under some small amount of circumstances, this is being investigated.
- Today is a bug fix only update from the top issues noted from this update.
- Arena bug with appearances changes has now been resolved. But individuals this has happened to should reach out to player support.
- Arena Matchmaking - A preference to joining the tavern path the start is being looked at.
- Players leaving arena early - Looking at possible solutions to discourage this behaviour.
- Letters of recommendation for the Sea Dogs and Hunters Call are coming in an update soon!
- Insiders will hopefully have a new update soon with some bug fixes due to be rolled out to the main build soon.
- Flix Interactive a local team have been helping the studio out greatly with Arena - Joe extends his thanks and credit.
- Coconut Lizard are also another team to extend thanks too!
- Next week internally at Rare there will be an internal creative jam. To get the creative juices flowing and let off steam. The theme of together!
- The future of Sea of Thieves, how do we take it forward? Two separate platforms (Adventure and Arena) with cross over. Will have their own rhythm of updates. Exciting stuff to come! Running a game as a service still requires work for team load and spreading the load needs looking at.
- E3 2019 - In a months time Sea of Thieves will be there, but teases only no big reveal!
And finally...
In the first week, 8.1 million fish have been caught!
808 caught by one person alone…
