I'm a launch player that got drawn into the final weekend of the beta by some friends, then decided to take the plunge on the game. I was a little uneasy about spending $60 on a game that felt like it was rushed, and stripped of some content to be released at a future date, but it was pretty fun as is and the future promises looked very bright. I'd say the future is about as bright as they promised for the record.
I hit legend in June, then Athenas 10 in August. I kept playing whether or not I had all the latest event commendations done or not because I enjoy the game and I liked helping out my crew who usually still needed things.
Fast forward to now. I have every cosmetic in the game (that isn't a dress) and 7 million gold. The past year has been great but, I say this only if it can be done without detracting from future content development, can the speed cosmetics are developed be ramped up? In a game where the only objects to spend your gold on are cosmetics, the speed they've been released does feel lacking.
I could care less about them if it meant content development takes a hit in the slightest, but at the same time it would be great to improve on this. Expand it really. Give people the ability to buy the base design then purchase the ability to customize the colors. Bring on fully custom ship names with captaincy (might have to use the over-eager censor bot from chat due to some of them). Bring on custom masts, bowsprits, ladders, crows nests, lanterns, captains quarters, below decks, etc.
I'll stop now in case anyone on the art team is reading this and having a panic attack at the thought but, at bare minimum, I'd like to see a few more cosmetics released with the larger updates.
Thoughts?
