Further Pirate Customization After First Selection.

  • Hello Everyone

I know it has already been said lots of times, but in a game that is all about customization why can't we customize our pirates even more? For example, why can't we change the eye color that our pirates have or the size of the body that they have?

I think it would be cool to customize every aspect of our pirate. Body Build, Gender, Facial Features etc..

If the issue is how does your pirate change their facial features, well I propose the idea of another vendor at the outpost, I propose a man or woman who is in tune with their magic abilities, like the order of souls. You could enter into their shop and pay a certain amount of gold to change certain aspects about your pirate. For the bigger the change the more gold it should cost, like a whole gender swap should cost more than changing eye color.

I want this implemented because I chose my pirate at launch and I would just like to look at something diffrent than my big fat pirate, (don't want to start a whole new pirate and work my way back up to legend).

Anyways thanks for reading. Keep on plundering.

  • @dayneatolla Pirates aren't perfect, beautiful Barbie dolls. They are imperfect, very-flawed things. Want perfection? Then spend the time needed looking for it, because once that pirate-stork lands on the boat, you're stuck with it.

  • @galactic-geek It's just I spend so much time looking at my pirate, chose my pirate at launch and just want to look at something different. It doesn't affect players that like their pirate that they initially chose, I just think it would be nice to see some more customization. I don't know much about how the infinite pirate generator works, but I'm sure that there is a whole supply of pirate eye, mouth, nose presets that we can choose from, why not just slap them into a vendor and call it a day.

  • @dayneatolla Because players have a tendency to choose the prettiest, sexiest, or otherwise best looking features out there, which doesn't fit with the idea of dirty, scarred, mongrel pirates. It also would give us less variety in terms of pirate appearances in the game. I assure you that fat, old pirates would be all but non-existent if what you want comes to pass.

...and for the record, the devs at Rare have said the would like to add in the ability to change certain features, but that they would like to do it in a way that makes sense with the setting. I'm guessing that they either a) haven't figured that out yet, or b) are keeping it under wraps.

  • @galactic-geek They will blend right in with the fancy pirate sets that aren't really pirate like at all, for example, the Sovereign set. Sea of thieves is a game where I can be the pirate I want to be, So if I want to be a pirate with no imperfections that is my choice. If I want to look roughed up that is also my choice. I like the initial idea of the random pirate selection, maybe only when you hit legend should you then be able to change your pirate.

I concur with this line of thinking. Stick with it to the end, and when you've earned it, why not make your pirate look larger than life? #bemorelegend
