Don’t know what to do now...

  • Now that I’m pirate legend, Ive lost the amazing feel I had for this game since I did when I was half way towards where I am now. Im not saying this game is dull after pirate legend, but I am saying that I need some advice or tricks to keep playing in a way that’s not forced:) I hope the Aniversery update helps with this temporary bordom. Any advice will be appreciated!

  • Wait until April 30th...

  • complete your achievements for each faction? lol, thats all ive been doing since i hit full athena.. i kinda feel like the weight has been lifted, and now i can focus on just running around and enjoying the little things, im not worried about loosing treasure since it now has no value. you can instead spend more time socializing, becoming a better sailor, help or hinder others.. it all depends on how you want to interact with the sandbox..

  • I spent a month just sneaking. Sneaking on to ships and hiding their treasure in another spot. Sneaking up on people on islands and playing music to startle them. Not fighting or stealing. Just sneaking. And hiding. Lots of Rowboat adventures. It was fun for awhile.....

Unless you really care about commendations and titles there really is nothing else to gain. Once you hit PL the shine is gone.

Luckily the new Mega Update seems to be packed with new stuff to do!

  • @flintlock-avery Thanks for the tips!

The great thing about Sea of Thieves is actually, that you can take a break knowing you're not missing out on any progression or 'falling behind' in any way, you join back in right where you left off - having said that, there are plenty of commendations and achievements to go for, also why not set your own goals, a different one every day?

Some great suggestions already in this thread :)

  • I like helping others out occasionally. I helped with a Reapers Run the other day that turned into a five ship melee. It was a blast! Making friends is always a good thing!

  • @chunkystar365 In my opinion there are two ways of enjoying games:

    • You can play the game to complete it, you set a goal go out and clear that goal and then you're done. You can linger around but without a set goal you'll quickly lose intrest.

    • You play a game for the enjoyment of the act of playing the game, while this is really logical it's not as natural as people think. Lots of games gate off this enjoyment or large chunks of the game untill after you've completed a mandatory part of the game. Especially online games like to suck the enjoyment of playing the game out untill you've reached cap or another point in the game from where it becomes fun. I've started enjoying SoT since the first minute and the enjoyment curve has been up there since that moment.

  • I’m still pretty far away from being a Pirate Legend but what sometimes I play merchant. I dress my character up accordingly, load up on resources and animals and sail around trying to sell the stuff to other players. One dude gave me three captains chests for 20 bananas and 20 planks and 20 cannonballs for example.

  • @chunkystar365 Once the skeleton ships were added, I always told myself I would solo one of the battles. Eventually after a while, I did. It's fun going in knowing you can get wrecked multiple different ways at any moment, but once you get the battle complete banner, you feel a huge sense of accomplishment and regardless of if you are legend or not, you feel legendary. That was a goal I set for myself and now it's become a regular thing.

  • @chunkystar365 I like to join and help galleon crews experiencing the game vicariously through them. There's always plenty of LFG's in the Xbox club, and with people wanting to do different things it's easy to find something that fits your mood.

  • @chunkystar365 When I reached pirate legend, I felt kind of lost. Nothing to grind, nowhere to go. Until I found I am free to do what I want.
Turn your circles like an eagle. Be kind and help others, be mean and rob others.

Enjoy the sunset or fight enemies in new ways. An example: we have decided not to defeat the enemy by boarding in ship battles. Just like that. Or: This week treasures are not dug up, but robbed - exclusively by rowing boat. Or: this week we will hunt skellet ships and give the treasures to all those who are on their way with white sails...

Be free. It is Rares world, but it is your decision, which game you want to play inside of it.

  • I like to play with newer players. Last night I ended up in an alliance with a bunch of new players and had a great time experiencing new stuff with them and helping them learn a few pointers. They killed their first Meg and were thrilled, and they were so excited about how much loot they had on board after the Meg, the two Skelly Ships, and the fort we took. Then we all had a pint in the tavern and played some music together to close the night out.

I also play a lot of solo and just sail, seeing where the wind will take me and enjoying the environment of the game. Sometimes I'll just sail in whichever direction the wind is blowing and stop at every island and shipwreck on the way to see what happens. Sometimes I'll keep to the sea and just hunt Megs and Skellie Ships and only take to port when I'm ready to log off. Sometimes I'll go full stealth and use my rowboat to steal and get around using only my knowledge of the islands.

Love that this game gives me the option to do anything, everything, and nothing if I want. @ChunkyStar365 if you're ever looking for someone to have random adventures with, I'm always up for it!

Hello Mr Chunkystar365, i think that you are a Pirate that plays for certain achievements and accomodations , levels and cosmetics to gain or buy...But...That are just byproducts . If i may make a little suggestion ( * And...did he just give you permission , dumbo? No , he didn't but you don't care do ya? You just gonna nag to him untill he crawls to an early grave just to get rid of yer naggings...moron) then i would advise you to watch earlier made Tavern Talks on You Tube ,especially those with Mr Joe and Mr Chapman...From the moment Mr Chapman spoke about the game , he entangled me with his words, his explenation of what the game is and should be played has made that i never had a dull moment at the Sea ...At this moment i'm Pirate Legend ( * You're Legendary...useless, fool) level 8 and i don't feel rushed to get Level 10. Eversince i have become Legend ,i feel free to do anything i want and what i absolutely love are all those encounters at the Sea , from other Pirates to AI, it simply doesn't matter....There are so many beautiful different personalities on the Sea who simply make that every game evening is different than the ones who came before...Sea of Thieves never had , for me , two of a kind adventures , not once and ...combined with the Alpha's i have been playing more than two years now...i hope you use yer microphone because that little device is such a gamechanger...

Aargh , i could tell you so many good tales , and they outcount the bad stories easely with 1 against a 100. But , unfortunately ( * And very lucky for you…) i don't have the time...

So , see your gained Legend status as a "liberation" in wich you are free to do what you always wanted to do...i can tell you that some persons can give you great experiences and feels that outgrows any achievement , even the hardest ones to get, and turns your game into something that gives or embraces you with almost Magical great feels….

i know you think i smashed a few times on my head ( * Then he thinks right , moron, you've smashed your head so many times that it isn't a miracle that you're even uglier than a rotten melon...hihihihiii….moron) but i mean it , the game never has dulled me ,and allthough i have bought a lot of games since SOT was released , i have not even touched many of them…

Roam freely , help others , get to know yer crewmates or even the "enemy" ...You will be very suprized how certain personalities may totally change the experience of that day…

Oh , and if this don't work for you , then...simply wait till the 30th of April and you can renew your quest to collect commandations and achievements...And you will be amazed what Rare still has in it's tank...They are second to none and ...if you should fear for yer already plundered wallet than ...don't...Also this add on is once again, just like all other add ons , for free...Who said that Rare are moneygrabbers ? i have my sturdy right hook ready for those that dare to say that…

So, my Dear Pirate , i wish you great adventures in this Marvellous and Beautiful world ...Why are you still reading this ? Hush , hush ...Off you go , yep rise up that anchor , drop down your Sails...Happy adventuring , Sir!

  • @chunkystar365 “Now that your treasure has no value” as another poster mentioned, is quite the existential dilemma especially post-PL. “Hope for new content”, “be happy with what you got”, “now you’re free to do whatever” , “take a break from the game” , “work on achievements and commendations” are common ideas towards this subject.

Personally, I began striving for A10 once I hit PL. After I reached A10, I started working on achievements and commendations. After a while, specifically after the shrouded spoils PL commendation debacle I grew disgusted and disinterested in the game, and basically stopped playing for 3-4 months. Now, I’m back on the seas a moderate amount, working on those last bits of achievements(only 13 more OoS voyages to do, yay), with sails half-raised in excitement for new content and crossplay opt out.

  • When i play solo as a sloop, i challenge other crew (brig or bigger).
    For exemple :

Yersteday i was sailing whilst an athena quest was up (only for miles) then i saw a galleon parked next to and outpost. So i came to them, i shooted some canon balls at them just to se how they would have reacted.
No anwser, so i left and the kraken came to me, so i kill it then decide to come back to the galleon and shoot again, their they respond and start leaving.
I follow them for more than an hour, defending my boat from them trying to put my anchor.
Then they started following me and tried to shoot canon balls at me.
They sunk me at least with an exploding barrel. And saw them going for a stronghold.
So i came to the stronghold and parked my sloop far from the stronghold and swimmed to them, killing some and died.
Then a random friend joined me and we were so annoying that they scuttuled and the stronghold was our with 3 waves remaining.

All this to say that i hadn't a specific objectif but i always found something to do and it's useful to train pvp for arena !

  • @clumsy-george Can you please offer an additional version without the interference of your other personalities, I would very much welcome that... 😱

  • @goedecke-michel said in Don’t know what to do now...:

@clumsy-george Can you please offer an additional version without the interference of your other personalities, I would very much welcome that... 😱

So you're basically asking George to not be George?

  • @fishst1ck Which of the George(s) ... I mean, how many are there... (*typical, too stupid to count, huh? ... moron) I asked, I don't know ( *because YOU don't know anything anyway, old man, what are you interfering with anyway?) at all. 😜

  • @goedecke-michel
i can only be myself and can only talk on how beneficial other people can be to this game and the adventures one can have with them...If that , for some reason , would bother you , then i'm sorry but i can't detach the influence of great crewmates or "enemies" ...That wouldn't be a reflection of the truth anymore...This is a game that has a lot of depth , but it doesn't show itself as easy as i may tell ,but it is there ...Maybe you will find it one day too, i hope you will.

  • @clumsy-george I didn't mean to hurt you. Your 'tick' to add inserts of thoughts to your lyrics is funny. Sometimes I don't find the text between all the insertions, I wanted to make a funny remark about it. It didn't work. Not funny I am, up the frick I should shut. What do I have in mind? 😬
