I think ghost ships can be toned down especially with sloops because I was a solo with about 20 captains chest then a Skeleton Galion ship popped up from know here and then chased me across the map until it completely destroyed me since sinking there ship takes ages even with a squad of 4. Maybe a Sloop ghost ship should pop up instead to make it a little bit more fair.
Ghost ships
@logic-m3rks I completely agree with this and I can relate fully to how annoying it is solo slooping with like no kegs and a gigantic galleon just pops out the water and decimates you. Also to add on to this, instead of circling the island that you may retreat to whilst getting attacked by one, they should just leave like a meg does if they get too close to islands.
@logic-m3rks they are annoying sure but it doesnt take long to sink them. if you have any cursed cannonballs use them strategically. hit the crew with a peaceball or sleep ball and then pummel with normal balls and finish with a ballast ball. can usually sink with that combo.
though I agree the frequency of the spawned in ships could be toned down a bit for sloops.
@logic-m3rks Soloing a ghost ship is hard to do, but its not impossible. They are not hard at all with a crew of 4 on a galleon. I think nerfing them would make it way to easy for a full crew like that.
As far as encountering ghost sloops, I actually think they might be harder to sink rather than a ghost, but that is an opinion of mine that holds no water as I've only fought 1 or 2 in the past (I don't do the raids too often). If someone who has fought a few of these can argue this I'll withdraw it.
Lastly though, with the rise of PvE encounters - you should never ever ever ever ever ever eeeeevvvvvveeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrr sail around with 20 captains chest on your boat if losing them is detrimental. Losing 20 captains chest is no big deal to me, as I am a PL who doesn't need the gold or XP, but depending on your level and gold count - that's rough. Make sure you turn in more frequently.
I totally disagree, the Ghost ships are not too powerful. This game and it's PVE are some of the easiest I have ever been a part of in any game.
The only subtlety challenging PVE event left in Sea of Thieves right now is the ship event, and solo ghost ships are anemic at best.
If you're having trouble killing ghost ships; here is what you do..
Raise your sail, turn hard right or hard left so that your boat is in a spin.
Run back and forth between the wheel, the repairs, the cannons..
The wheel because you want to match the "Circle speed" so that you can fire on them.
The repairs because you don't want to sink
The cannons because you want to sink them..
How to fire on them:
- Be good, actually hit the target; it's not hard.
- hit both above and below to maximize your efforts.. High to knock out the cannoneers, and low to give them water.
- cursed cannonballs work; USE THEM!
- profit.
@cstrap I've taken out a few skelly sloops and compared to the skelleons, I feel they have their advantages and disadvantages, but I would still say they are harder. At least for me at the moment. Their maneuverability being much better makes it harder to grind my ship against theirs to bucket water onto them. The fact that they are a smaller ship makes them a smaller target to ram into. A lot of the time I end up being right behind them using my bowsprit to throw water onto the wooden structure on the back of their ship. If they are dry, I have a harder time catching them than the galleons since they are at full speed and can typically turn at the same rate as my ship.
Only having one cannon makes a noticeable difference in the damage you take from them. Also the amount of curses.
One thing I believe is that their helmsman is worse than the galleons. When I have two or three sloops spawn on me, they tend to collide with each other a lot.
When shooting holes in their ship, it doesn't seem to fill as fast. I feel the skeletons repairing have quick reaction time since they are in such close proximity to the holes in the lower deck, and the holes on the back half of the ship just don't fill as fast, until water hits that level. When using the bucket method, I feel like I can fill them up quicker.
The tighter interior makes them harder to board. Most skeletons will immediately attack you and block the stairs. You need to use some ninja moves to get around.
They are a challenge like the skelleons but in their own way. Slightly tweaked strategies work well against them but they are not very different. Frankly I would love seeing them added to the rest of the world.
