Scourge of the skeleton ships!

@toostymark to ensure you get credit for sinking the ship you should put at least one cannonball into them. The only things that won't give you credit after you hit them with a cannonball are if the ship dives back into the water leaving the seas, or if it sinks out in the red sea. Neither of which will happen in a skelly ship battle.

To avoid being bombarded by the skelleons cannons, I will crash into them and grind our ships together side by side. Then I'll bucket water from my ship to theirs until the sink. They cannot shoot you with their cannons when your ships are grinding against each other, so you essentially negate their strongest advantage. The skeleton sloops are more maneuverable and harder to get your ship positioned against them but they also don't spam you with cannonballs the same way a skelleon will. Conventional means are usually ok with taking them out but I still try my hardest to use the bucket method.

This was by far the hardest commendation I’ve ever had to work for. But it makes it that much better once you get it. Take cannon shots when you have the opportunity. But avoid trading cannon shots with the ships because they will wreck you

I like to solo sloop so what I do is gather kegs and when passing I will take one shot at them to aggro. Once they are on me I will turn and run keeping some distance when possible. At that point I just jump off with a keg catch their latter and hit them. Make sure your sloop isnt going to hit anything before you jump. Generaly Ill grab supplies and then die so I can return back to my ship for one more repeated hit. It works almost everytime. Hope that helps if you like running solo. The best of luck!
