Saving during voyage or quest

  • Hello,

I’m a newby and loving being a pirate and sail around.
But there is one issue that i can’t solve and upset’s my.
How can i save my quest or voyage?
I’m askin this because when during a voyage, iT could happen that i need to go for supper or helping 1 of the kids. And when i come back i’ve been kicked of the server and lost everything.
So normally in a game u can save iT and start again from that point.

Who can help my with this?

  • @amandatheoku14 sorry for the pore writting. I’m from the netherlands and its beinig a while ago that i’ve used english

  • @amandatheoku14
You can't save your quest or your voyage.

If you sail with another person on a boat, (s)he can invite you again after supper etc.

  • @amandatheoku14

This is a session based game - meaning that it's done when the session ends regardless of where you are. Given that voyages are shared amongst the crew, it doesn't make sense to have them cross sessions.

  • Oké

Both anwsers are based on multiplayer game. But when i play solo is the same as multi. Plus when u respawn all the objects and voyages are still on the boot. And start at a new location nearby. Is iT possible for a option like this only than that u can turn the game off and not died haha

First off, your English is very understandable.

Also, playing solo is still multiplayer. You are placed in the world with other pirates, but you are alone on your ship. There is not a single-player version of the game. You may know this already, but if not then I would not want you surprised to see other players around.

That option has been discussed before on these forums.
The ability to "save" your session and resume.

Devs have not openly talked about it being in plans yet.

I wouldn't say never, but a large obstacle would be "who's" session is it?

If your crew of 4 get to the last step of a gilded athenas, and all 4 quit and start a new session without the others, does the first one back get it?
Do all 4 get it? If so, then 1 can start and turn in, then join a 2nd's game, then those 2 join 3rd's game, then those 3 join 4th's game.

You can see some design issues with it being a shared world. Perhaps it would be for solo only, but that would cause dissonance.

Perhaps when captaincy is implemented it might be looked at, assigning the session to the captain and the crew that can play next do, and those that don't miss out.

My spidey sense tells me that would lead to captains letting crews run through Athena voyages until the final island, then saving and ditching the crew until their friends can join.

Aye, which is why I think captaincy was beached for launch, too much trolling opportunity.

Perhaps a crew would have to vote to do it or such. I have faith in the devs to work it out.

  • This answer is just what i hoped for to get. Thanks.

no not possible to safe youre quest.
at this moment, with developing, there are to many issue’s that could conflict the gameplay in general.

    Thats right?

Maybe for a helping hand on this quest:
When i start the game, i choose a boot and open or closed crew.
I’ll have as starting point one of the outpost’s, boot and myself.
Buy a voyage and start iT myself.
I start to navigate the boot and take off towarths the first quest.

Half way i’ve managed a crew and tressures and have to 2 go.
What now? I can stop and take voyage and cargo till next time i’ll start again.
I’ll leave wveryting to the crew.
Or option c, we split the value and i’ll take the voyage for next time.

Or the kickoff from server time has to extand a little more. So u van take a break or somting like it

Somthing like this was in my idea

  • I'm also a newbie here, and really don't get what's the point of this poor implemented way of gaming.
For me the fact that the voyage is lost on logout is not only a bad thing in general, but it is frustrating and push me back from playing. I play solo. I have limited time to stay in front of PC to play. Don't tell "play the shorter voyages". Shorter voyages means poor rewards. I spent nearly 4 hours to make 2 out of 6 (or 7?) maps of the special voyage of this week, that Larinna gives. I was enjoying the voyage, finding treasures, but then I had to log out. Now that I logged back in not only the lucrative voyage is gone forever. I can't even choose or try another one from other "genres". This thing is really bad. It's like developers tell me "you can't play this game, no matter how much you like it". All the things concerning crews and pvp for me are not interesting and I can't understand why it's so difficult to let solo players play this game in a way that's not so frustrating.
Let me know when they will be able to let players continue the voyages they begun, I can't play a game like this.

  • @balippo like previously stated in this thread, it is a multiplayer game and most of all a session based game and live service based game.

Save stating regular voyages wouldnt be able to work consistently, as it could cause the following, and many more other issues:

    • you start a voyage and have to visit 3 islands.
    • you complete one map and then decide to call it quits
    • you log on a day, week or month later and in the meantime an update has rolled around and forever changed on of the islands you have to be at, Yes islands can and will change, reapers hideout (previously a uncharted islannd with no construction on it) and fort of the damned (previously named old boot fort with different constructions on it) just to name two that have done so
    • now your voyage is broken anyway and in order to prevent that every time an update rolls around the devs have to spend hours and hours checking all possible voyages that would have broken if they where save stated

    This is just one example

Also 4! Hours to do two maps ? I know you said you where new but you will soon realise with more experience you will knock them out and faster and more efficiently.

All voyages are basically the same for each faction, just the islands and what you need to do are different, in the end its basically just dig x’s, kill captains, solve riddle or catch animals etc. There is no story to them thus includes gilded voyages (which come around once or twice a year) the only difference with the latter is that they are pretty high value and are a bit more lengthy but you will soon be able to knock them out in an hour or less.

The only voyages/quests that have story to them are tall tales and they do have checkpoints, meaning at certain stages trough the voyage you will get a pop up saying you reached a checkpoint and if you then decide to quit you can start from that point onward next time

Sad to hear you have had such a bad experience but if you would give it some more time you would see that it wouldnt make a difference, its basicly just the more maps you complete the more loot you have to sell. Which doesnt matter if it is in one voyage are spread out over multiple

P.s. bumping threads that are over a month old is against forum ruls @Deckhands a lock for this one ?
