ideas for more cursed chests, and cursed skulls

  • More Cursed Chests

      Chest of Lead Density

This cursed chest has four handles to carry it by and acts like the galleon's anchor in that it's possible to drag by yourself, but it's much faster to move with a friend or three. Once onboard it acts like the curse from the ballast ball, causing your ship to ride lower in the water and making top deck holes a danger. This may require a rework of the ballast ball so that it's effects can be doubled up (for when you have the chest and are also hit with the cursed ball) (Just curiously, what happens when a ship that is currently being wrapped by the Kraken's tentacle is hit by a ballast ball? Anything?)

       Chest of Stalking Storms

Periodically after being unearthed, a small scale storm forms around and follows this chest. The cloud formed by the chest is distinct (perhaps treasure chest shaped?) and let's other players know that you have loot aboard your ship. While carrying the chest players are more prone to lightning strikes.

       Chest of Devilish Whispers

Once dug up, this chest periodically whispers loudly and fragments of the chest appear to float off of it like the vilianous bounty skull. After a warning period a few basic skeletons spawn around the chest, even on your ship!

Cursed Skeleton Captains and Bounty Skulls

      Toxic Bounty Skulls

These rare skelly captains are always of the overgrown variety (maybe they have their own plant skeleton model) and are always unarmed. They inflict poison damage with each strike and at a distance, can spit like snakes. Players' vision is obstructed as though they are poisoned while carrying the toxic bounty skull and if held too long they begin taking damage as well.

      Eternal Bounty Skulls

These rare skeleton captains are always the basic variety of skeleton (possibly has it's own model) and always come armed with a cutlass. What's special about this bounty skull is that every five ~ fifteen minutes it begins to shake, giving you warning before it sprouts a new body and you have to defeat it again, even on your ship!

      Midas Bounty Skulls

These rare captains are always golden variety skeletons (maybe unique model) and are always equiped with a blunderbuss. They move slightly faster than most golden skellies, and take two buckets of water to rust (twice as long standing in water). The midas bounty skull is pure gold, it rusts when in contact with water. When a player holds the midas bounty skull they are cursed with a gold encrusted form. Walking is slowed slightly and jumping is impossible (similar to the effects of a limp ball). If a player contacts water with the skull in hand (or pick up the skull while it's rusty) they will rust, moving even slower, sinking in deep water, and taking increased damage! Effects last a few seconds after the skull is dropped, and a little longer if you've rusted.

I'm imagining an event when these are introduced that has players take a voyage for the Eternal Cursed Skull and maybe two Chests of Devilish Whispers on the same island. Players then fight waves of skellies and a recurring captain on the way to turn in their loot. Another combination could be the Midas Cursed Skull and the Chest of Stalking Storms, players would need to wait for the storm to calm or remove the chest from the ship to avoid raining on the Midas skull.
